JTFC that’s nightmare fuel
Re: Two World War II-Era Planes Collide and Crash at Texas Airshow
I'm amazed at how cleanly the fuselage on the B-17 separated from the wings. Instant lawn dart. Yeesh.
And... [rant]Portrait videos make baby Jesus cry. Turn your phone horizontal you damn dirty ape![/rant]

Sadly, the death rate saga continues with these type of aircraft flying displays.
Re: Two World War II-Era Planes Collide and Crash at Texas Airshow
Other video shows a variety of aircraft airborne at the same time in what may have been a somewhat complicated maneuver as compared to simpler fly-bay’s. When there are different groups of aircraft doing different maneuvers, the risk factor increases.

This came in this morning:
Re: Two World War II-Era Planes Collide and Crash at Texas Airshow
Ya we should just put an outright ban on ALL flying of any type by mankind because GA has even way more accidents than the Historic Aircraft world does
...isn't he the best pilot you've ever seen?....Yeah he is ....except when I'm shaving.........
Re: Two World War II-Era Planes Collide and Crash at Texas Airshow
Watching the various videos , I agree with the initial atements that it looks like an loss of visual contact with the B17.
Two or three fighters pass the B17 and we then see the P63 coming around in a high speed left bank towards as he endeavoured to rejoin the other fighters
Once in the left bank the B17 disappears under the P63 resulting in loss of visual separation.
This is only a preliminary statement pending further investigation

I’d be surprised if GA has warbirds beat on a per flight hour basis. In any case the historic display crowd hasn’t been doing much for their own image these past few years.

Laying blame. Go to the 26 minute mark.

Thanks fro saving me 25 minutes of my life! What the DTSB hat guy says makes some sense. Factual? I dunno, but it makes some sense. If what he says about CAF culture is correct, then there's a problem. Blame the Air Boss, well it sure sounds like that's a factor. But, there comes a point where a wise pilot must decide to not continue flight into chaos, or a unplanned maneuver with risk. Obviously, the P63 pilot had no intent of contributing to an unsafe situation, and, I get that had he "declined" the Air Boss' "instruction", there could have been organizational repercussions. That's sad... How many times in the past, has a pilot been black marked for declining what would have been an unsafe maneuver, and thus preventing an accident, and been "told"? We'll never know, but for certain, there are people alive because in some cases, a pilot said: "I'm not going to do that!"
