Trying to get back flying
Its been at least six years now. So started to look at charts for IFR flying as I loved that aspect of aviation
I see now on th charts your have T airways Q airways
What ever happened to vector airways. I remember V98 Always used that on IFR flights to go up towards Ottawa, Montreal area
Mn things have changed

Re: Trying to get back flying
The road back is hard in some way, easier than it used to be in others. First you need to get recent if you haven't been a PIC or SIC in more than 5 years. This is the hard part, you have to go up in a 172 and convince an instructor you meet the skills of the license (CPL). The IFR just involves an IPC in a simulator. You don't have the re write the INRAT or do a ride on an actual aeroplane any more.

VORs and NDBs are slowly being decommissioned all across the country, so their associated A, B, V, J routes/ways are disappearing, too. L, T, and Q you see now are fixed RNAV routes.
Have fun, exciting to get back into flying. At the end of the day the CDI is still a CDI!

Also even with serviceable navaids.. the airways are no longer flight checked by Nav Canada so you will see a lot of FIR NOTAMs saying “V420 unsuitable for navigation between DEEEZ and NUTTS.”
Generally with RNAV equipped aircraft, the only time you’re going ti be flying airways is between major airports and in high density airspace or organized track systems. Everywhere else you are going direct a waypoint for a STAR or approach.
