IATRA benefits?

Post by ellinas »

Hello aviators and Happy New Year!

Does having written the IATRA increase the potential of gaining that entry level pilot position?

Your thoughts and Thank you

Simple answer, yes.

Had I not had my IATRA, I wouldn't have gotten my first job. Any job that requires a type rating will require an IATRA if you don't have an ATPL

Well, you cannot operate multi-crew aircraft without IATRA or SARON/SAMRA. So yes, you absolutely need it unless you plan to instruct or do survey flying on a 172.

It is required for a 2-crew type rating, it is not however required for an aircraft that is certified single pilot, ie: most beechcraft twins (BE20, 30, 02...). Can you get a job without an IATRA? Absolutely. However if you're doing what we all did as new pilots and spamming every company in the country with a resume, it would be good to have in your back pocket in case you get offered an FO position on something like a 228, -8, ATR etc etc etc.

It's worth the $100.00 simply for the fact that if I'm hiring for a position that requires it, I won't even look at your resume unless you already have it. I'm not going to gamble on you writing it on time to offer you a position.

Just my .02

Thank you for your message, I wonder how long that would take dealing with TC!

I don’t think there are big delays at this point for exams. I’d bet bet if you book an exam you’d actually need more time to study than anything else.
