One year up north will get you right into AC or WJ and prevent you from spending a decade at Jazz or Encore.Planeoldguy wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 9:19 pm I saw a job application and it says I have to lift 100lbs,14 hours a day. Re: Should I apply?
Assuming the OP is a new CPL with 200ish hours, I doubt one year up north with less then 1000 hours total time will get you into AC or WJ... More like 3 years up north at minimum, assuming you get on with around 2000 hours total time...averageatbest wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 10:01 amOne year up north will get you right into AC or WJ and prevent you from spending a decade at Jazz or Encore.Planeoldguy wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 9:19 pm I saw a job application and it says I have to lift 100lbs,14 hours a day. As long as you're cool with a bi-weekly paycheque of $985..

Re: Should I apply?
Do you still have to pay 15k for the honor of working there as an FO?
As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Re: Should I apply?
Not as far as I know, but you do get the honour of making $29k plus some meagre hourly rate in year 1!
Plus I’ve heard their new CEO was quoted saying something to the line of “pilots would work for free at perimeter”
Re: Should I apply?
He is probably right though... For now...
The 15k was on the bearskin side of operations. Hopefully that got axed during the merger.

Cash up front bond has been gone for years.digits_ wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 5:46 pmHe is probably right though... For now...

Last time I heard Metro bond is 1 year@ 6K
Dash 8 is 2 year @ 15K
Internal employees have a reduced or no bond.
Neither bond even comes even close to covering the cost and with pilots bailing after 3-6 months it is arguably appropriate.
Pilot contract negots well underway with improved working conditions and significant pay raises expected. (20-40% depending on position expected)
Lets hope its true for the pilots sake.

That's good news!bobcaygeon wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 10:04 am

Does it matter if it's 2000 hr tt in the right side? Is it actually possible to skip jazz/encore that way? I've seen a lot of people leave in 4-6 months for jazz and the likes.twa22 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 10:56 amAssuming the OP is a new CPL with 200ish hours, I doubt one year up north with less then 1000 hours total time will get you into AC or WJ... Re: Should I apply?
I don't know, but judging by what's been said around here lately, it seems that 2000tt with 703/704 time can bypass jazz/encoregopherblack wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2023 10:58 pmDoes it matter if it's 2000 hr tt in the right side? Re: Should I apply?
You probably want some PIC. Other wise you might be in the right seat for a VERY long time. And yes it’s possible to skip encore /Jazz. Lots of perimeter pilots have gone direct to AC Or WJ.gopherblack wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2023 10:58 pmDoes it matter if it's 2000 hr tt in the right side? Re: Should I apply?
What is the work schedule like? Is it possible to have a Mon-Fri schedule for the most part? I know Perimeter operates a number of different aircraft and does pax/cargo, so it probably varies.
Re: Should I apply?
You should always apply. If you get the job and feel you're worth more than they're offering, let them know.

Re: Should I apply?
Typically all airlines don’t conform to “typical work weeks”. Finding a Monday to Friday flying gig is probably difficult to find, but not impossible. Best thing to do is apply and go talk to them and ask these questions in the interview. The interview is two-fold… they learn about you and you learn about them.Roundel Randy wrote: ↑Mon Feb 20, 2023 6:04 pm What is the work schedule like? The Bearskin side of things is (used to be?) mostly Mon-Fri.Roundel Randy wrote: ↑Mon Feb 20, 2023 6:04 pm What is the work schedule like? Is it possible to have a Mon-Fri schedule for the most part? I know Perimeter operates a number of different aircraft and does pax/cargo, so it probably varies.

Re: Should I apply?
Can anyone shed some light on the training side of things as FO on the Metro, what is the PPC like and how much of a success rate etc?
Re: Should I apply?
Maybe someone can post the current contract, it’s union so the cba’s publicshamrock104 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 03, 2024 3:20 pm Can anyone shed some light on the training side of things as FO on the Metro, what is the PPC like and how much of a success rate etc?
Bond 1 year $6,000 for perimeter FO, prorated – better than others
$15,000 B1900 bond at PAL, $15,790 at Skylink, ??? $12,000 Carson, other metro $18000 bond
Why go to other places when the bond's less at perimeter?
Why go to perimeter when you can go to a place without a bond? Ornge hiring 500hrs and paying more, no bond.
You can get a Navajo fo with no bond.
Shop around

PPC is just a standard flight test, they don’t try to fail you.shamrock104 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 03, 2024 3:20 pm Can anyone shed some light on the training side of things as FO on the Metro, what is the PPC like and how much of a success rate etc?
Metro’s a hard plane to fly though, especially for a 200 hour CPL. I’ve seen quite a few people that either just lacks the skills or don’t bother putting in the work, and they end up washing out after a few sim sessions.
The metro 3 has G1000, but the sim they use is 6 pack, so if you can’t hand fly raw data approaches… you won’t get to the stage where a flight director will save you
