YYZ 757 Lifestyle and Pay

Post by averageatbest »

Hello all,

What are the pairings like at Morningstar on the 757 out of YYZ?

Are there single day pairings? How many nights away a month?

What is the pay?

How do you truly feel about the company and it's future?

Thanks in advance :)

Thank you for that. Are Morningstar pilots not represented by ALPA? I'm surprised that they do not have any bidding system in place.

We are represented by ALPA. The company has been dangling a "bidding system of sorts" carrot for a while. I personally think it's a poor attempt at enticing some that may be on the fence about leaving, to stay. Just like they've been telling everyone that "they're working on something", in regards to a retention package. But they never seem to put anything on paper and conveniently said Fedex said "No".

There is no expansion or retirements happening. So the regular 757 ads should tell you everything you need to know about what was asked on this thread.

There is no bond anymore.
Pros:
- Pay is pretty good.
- Plane is great.
- Schedule release (when on time) is earlier than most 705s.
- Great group of people including the chief pilot(s)/training. Approachable and down to earth.
- You’ll (EXTREMELY) rarely wait for a gate and you have nothing to do other than flying the plane.
- Tons of extra fuel on every flights with a reliable airplane.
- Rare delays.
- From the flight deck to your car = 1 minute walk (You can start your car from the plane after landing :D )
- GREAT (and free) health benefits.
- Easiest flying you’ll ever do because of the good plane, the airport they go to, the time of the day (or should I say night), no FAs, no Pax, no dealing with security,…

Cons:
- Flying at night (almost) all the time
- Very tiring
- No food/coffee on board unlike the competition (or even FedEx for that matter). (Come on Maei… that should be fixed especially with this kind of operation)
- Did I mention fatigue?
- No flight benefits

Did I forget anything? I think that’s pretty much it. Overall a good company in my opinion with the usual BS here and there but all companies have those.
