The RCMP is grossly corrupt and incompetent. Just look at how they managed the Portapique shooting in NS. There was a madman on the loose with a gun and they sent out a tweet, then they covered up the types of guns and where they came from to help further Trudeaus great gun grab. The head of the RCMP recently stepped down after all the scandals.

Arguably, the Nova Scotia RCMP refusing to bow to political pressure and release the details to the media on the types of firearms used (not that we didn't already know that one was a duty pistol) went against the Federal Government's gun control agenda. Had those details been splashed all across television and print media (you know, scary pictures of AR-15s and such) there likely would have been even more public appetite to "do something" - even if the "something" is idiotic and will result in no actual public safety gains.

As for where they came from, we already knew that the majority would have been smuggled in illegally from the US... no surprises there, what with 80%+ of illegal firearms coming from the states.

This was a terrible event for everyone on the crew that was locked up and detained. When I was operating airplanes in countries with drug problems (this includes the US) we never left the planes unattended on the ramp. This seemed to deter people from placing items on the airplane that did not belong there.
