Westjet to close YHZ hanger ?

Post by johnkruk »

With all the Q’s heading out west, is it just a matter of time before the YHZ hanger is shut down and the operation is moved out west as well ?

On one hand, that would make sense.

On the other hand, they've been ferrying aircraft over there for scheduled maintenance because they haven't kept enough maintainers where the aircraft fly.

They are currently managing to stay afloat due to heavy checks being conducted on the Q’s in YHZ. Only a matter of time until YYZ Q’s are no longer Ferrying to YHZ and then a cut of 2/3 of the workforce will be either offered positions out west or let go.

They don't have the staff in YYZ or YYC to keep up with maintenance. I can imagine them switching it over to a 737 maintenance facility.

Stay positive and hopefully the company will choose to stop expanding through cuts soon!
