ATP Renewal?

Post by Alpat »

Hello everybody, After being away from Canada for years, I am planning to return to Canada to finish my career.
I have been actively flying under the FAA blanket for years and now need to "renew' my Canadian ATP.
Besides the medical, can anybody tell me what needs to be done? I am waiting for TC to answer my emails...... taking too long again.
Regards to all.

I'm too lazy to look up our regs this minute, but don't you just have to act a crew member/pic in the last 5 years to stay current/recent?

It doesnt need to be on a Canadian registered aircraft right?

If thats so, then rigpiggy is right.

As long as you have a Canadian CAT I medical, and you've acted as a PIC on an aircraft registered anywhere in the world in the last 5 years then your licence is current.

Now with that said, there are other currencies relating to carrying passengers, flying at night, and flying IFR but that will be taken care of if you're employed by an airline.

I flew on my FAA ATP for two years and then came back to Canada and didn't miss a beat.

Thank you Chaxterlum. 2 years for you, closer to 14 for me but the guy at TC in YUL said it should be OK....... it worries me!
I have been flying the MD11 and more recently the B742 of all aircraft recently. Just did my recurrent in MIA at Atlas.
Docs just sent to get the "booklet"...... things have changed a lot. I am hoping that once I receive the booklet, I'll do the medical and start applying hoping the "companies" will help grease the cogs........ Cheers to all

The real question on everyone's mind is... why would you leave the US and come back here? Less money, less free.
