On a more serious note: do they have to bring all employees to their homebase during a lockout?
Or can they lock you out while in a hotel?
My guess is that anyone on the road the next couple days will be booking off to avoid just that. Additionally, I think the company will jig the schedule to make sure no aircraft are grounded out of station. Cheaper to cancel flights when they are in YYC than CUN for example.
That said, ALPA would certainly help get crews home.

Normally the company and the union agree to a protocol related to an imminent strike/lockout deadline.
Once again - normally the company either cancels the outbound flight or the parties agree that the aircraft will be repositioned back to a base even if that falls after the deadline.
It all depends on whether the parties are prepared to act ‘normal’ in the face of an imminent strike/lockout.
To clarify there won’t be any repositioning of aircraft after the deadline. ALPA issued a Strike QRH a couple weeks ago that deals with this situation. They have strike centres in all the bases that are coordinating. Expectation is once the deadline is reached we walk, wherever we are, and try to fly standby home. ALPA will pay for a ticket if needed.

Nice, good luck!

As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Is ALPA going to look after the whole crew, or just the flight deck folks ?

Just the pilots. The company is responsible for everyone else.

Hey! Who turned off the Accountant?
Just another troll, in the long line of them, that has popped up on this site since the early days of the pandemic in 2020. There was that string of troll accounts from the wing suit guy... then the various "named" accounts, etc. Soon enough there will be a new flavour of the month troll account, especially if something controversial happens. Just wait until Air Canada pilots begin negotiating.
