Re: PayScale
Do you happen to know if your YOS carries over to when you upgrade? Or are you then at year 1 Captain making a whopping 130K to pilot a widebody?
Also, do you know how long it takes to upgrade typically at CJT?
Re: PayScale
Wow! 138k for a heavy jet skipper. Should be at least double that. What an absolute joke!
Re: PayScale
Hey come on now, it's not like they're mainly flying at night or anything. Not like it's hard on the body or ... wait ... never mind...
As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Re: PayScale
Good point, I was wrong the pay not be double the current rate…… it should be at least 2.5X.
How are they keeping anyone????

Re: PayScale
Funny when a year 2 united Fo makes almost 3x a year 1 67 captain.
Re: PayScale
Are you comparing a +$45b company to a barely $250m one? I agree pay is low especially with no YOS credit but come on!canadian_aviator_4 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 17, 2023 5:36 pm Funny when a year 2 united Fo makes almost 3x a year 1 67 captain.
Re: PayScale
While I am certainly not advocating for comparing Canadian pay Vs. American pay as it a waste of time.LegoMan wrote: ↑Tue Aug 22, 2023 7:52 amAre you comparing a +$45b company to a barely $250m one? The companies venue does not factor in. It’s not the employee’s fault their venues aren’t higher. Flying the same plane to the same destinations, that should be the one and only factor for employee salary.
Two reasons for this:
1. Pilots cannot do a single thing to increase the companies revenue. That’s why it should be only the executives that have their pay tied to the companies performance.
2. Pilots can only fly 1 plane at a time. If they’re operating a 767 why should they be paid half of what an AC Pilot is making on the same plane/route. The CJ 767 should be making the exact same or similar revenue on that flight but the crew is supposed to take a discount???
Re: PayScale
Upgrading at CJ is problematic. They do a LOT of direct entry hiring. Those DEC don't usually leave to go sit right seat at AC or WS or AT so they think of it as an investment because they can right seat qualify anyone.Loading... wrote: ↑Thu May 04, 2023 9:03 am Can anybody share the current payscale at Cargojet? Barriers to upgrading have been introduced not removed.
There is no professional development plan in place for FOs. Information on upgrades is few and far between.
You cannot upgrade in YVR despite 60% of the flights starting and ending with a DH.
Re: PayScale
Even at its currently depressed stock price cargojet has a market cap of 1.5 B. That’s hardly some small start up getting by.LegoMan wrote: ↑Tue Aug 22, 2023 7:52 amAre you comparing a +$45b company to a barely $250m one? Re: PayScale
It's depressed stock price is still overpriced. The company revenues $250MM profit margin is probably at best 3%. Wall Street valuations have gone out the window since Covid. You look at cash on hand and value of assets between United and Cargojet and it's not comparable. The average United pilot productivity is approximately $1.163MM revenue per pilot per year. Cargojet pilot is just over $404,000.fish4life wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2023 8:33 pmEven at its currently depressed stock price cargojet has a market cap of 1.5 B. It was the same when I worked for a software company. My colleagues in U.S. were making more than me but I was supporting and selling $3.6 million/yr USD and they were doing almost triple that in the U.S.
