Some meat drop ops are “out to lunch” (understatement)

Post by TeePeeCreeper »

The following makes “Toronto Joe” king of GTA meat drops look good!

viewtopic.php?t=193812

For the new guy/gal, just breaking into the industry… steer clear. Max duty, min rest and as this prospective employer seems to think… “transparency under the guise of honesty”

Simply translated: *Welp, we’ve got you by the balls/ovaries and you can’t do any better than US!*

Proudly abusing pilots since 1985! (Rick if you’re reading this, although we’ve never crossed paths, I’d tear you a new one for repping as a CP for this operation! Have you been smoking the green stuff with your bosses/fellow skydivers??? Give your head a shake!)

I’m disgusted.

To the new brethren in our industry; Welcome! Please remember that you are worth more than this, even with a fresh CPL and an instrument rating.

From the job ad.
We'll be totally honest, this is an entry level position and jobs that pay high wages for low time pilots simply don't exist.
Wrong. I worked for a company that paid their 200 hr new hires better than Encore & Jazz + benefits + free training (multi IFR). There's lots of good operators out there. You just need to find them.

Low time jump pilot jobs pay $5-7 per load in a single engine piston. This is standard across the country. The post just highlights facts. If you don’t like it, move on but a 300hr pilot that decides to go down that route can expect that pay. It’s a time builder or part time summer hobby for a weekend warrior. Personally, I’m grateful that the drop zone I was at literally took a loss to keep the planes flying with fun jumpers when it was slow so I could keep building my time.

Wow, pay has gone up. I only got 3 dollars a load back in the day and had to cover the checkout cost.

Got a free jump course though….and some T&A to make up for it.

Did you look at the ad? It's not "part time"...you get Mon, Tues off and are expected to work 60+hrs Wed-Sun. What a joke.

You’re not working 60 hours. You will spend 60 hours at the drop zone but I spent half the time looking for things to do or took naps in the hammock. Eventually found out that by learning to pack chutes I could make $10/pack.
