Is Flair hiring agian?

Re: Is Flair hiring agian?
I am also curious, as I applied about a month ago and haven't had a response yet. 3000+ TT, 2000 multi crew
Re: Is Flair hiring agian?
Heard they are interviewing for DECs again, the source is a Flair pilot but not sure where he got the information.
I don’t know if 3000 hours will get you DEC but who knows.

Re: Is Flair hiring agian?
We aren't hiring DECs currently but we will likely run a fall course for FOs. We'll post details and the date once we have made the decision on the date and numbers.

Re: Is Flair hiring agian?
Thanks for the update, would you mind giving us a heads-up when the DEC's hiring window opens again?
Re: Is Flair hiring agian?
Likely be early 2024 once we've given the opportunity to all eligible FO's
Re: Is Flair hiring agian?
any predictions on when you might be hiring F/O'S for yvr again? a couple of buddies and I received acceptance letters in March and were wondering when yvr would be hiring again.
Re: Is Flair hiring agian?
We're currently fully staffed in YVR, so most likely not before spring 2024 depending on where the next aircraft go
Re: Is Flair hiring agian?
Didn’t you just accept a position Aug 8th at Lynx?
Re: Is Flair hiring agian?
At the current resignation rate they’ll likely have to hire again this fall. Flair is gonna have to improve pay conditions notwithstanding its current contract. Market forces rule

Re: Is Flair hiring agian?
My question is why does Flair advertise 1000TT hiring mins for FO’s when they actually hire at way higher than that

Mins posted on job ads have always been below what is current market. Just like everyone rounds up their total hours on a resume, they round down.lvf_abv_clouds wrote: ↑Sun Jul 23, 2023 12:25 pm My question is why does Flair advertise 1000TT hiring mins for FO’s when they actually hire at way higher than that
Part of the reasoning behind this is that they get a stack of “qualified” people in the event they need to draw from the bottom. Employers can still choose to hire experienced candidates regardless of what the minimums are.
Re: Is Flair hiring agian?
We've hired candidates as low as 1000 TT, but they all scored exceptionally high on compass testing and interviewed well.lvf_abv_clouds wrote: ↑Sun Jul 23, 2023 12:25 pm My question is why does Flair advertise 1000TT hiring mins for FO’s when they actually hire at way higher than that
We generally prefer candidates 2500TT+ and time on Q400 or equivalent. As a general rule sub 2000 and no large turboprop or 705 experience candidates tend to have more edifficulties with the training and line indoc.

What ever Flair is doing in the hiring process, it is working well. No matter the experience level, we are taking on exceptional individuals that are very switched on.

I agree 100%. I've flown with a couple of the lower time new hires and the selection, and training teams have done a great job. I'm already having to take back a few of the things I previously said about flying instructors.MAX8 Driver wrote: ↑Sun Jul 23, 2023 7:09 pm What ever Flair is doing in the hiring process, it is working well. Re: Is Flair hiring agian?
If that's the case why not advertise for 2000TT mins with at least 500 multi turbine/ multi crew hours. That will help the system not get flooded with a huge load of applications. Cause there always are people who have the-I'll apply anyway attitude which is not bad unless you are being unrealistic but having lesser people flood the system will be easier is what I'm guessing.tbaylx wrote: ↑Sun Jul 23, 2023 6:41 pmlvf_abv_clouds wrote: ↑Sun Jul 23, 2023 12:25 pm My question is why does Flair advertise 1000TT hiring mins for FO’s when they actually hire at way higher than that

Talking about low timers being hired I dont know how Flair chooses or screens which low timer 1000TT would do well in the compass test and interview but yes I do agree that training the right candidate even with no heavy turboprop time sometimes fetches better crew than someone who has become accustomed to a certain way of doing things.
Re: Is Flair hiring agian?
If you are an employer and are hiring and the candidates have much more experience than the minimum advertised, wouldn't you rather hire the experience over the minimum? I'm honestly a bit surprised you even asked that questionlvf_abv_clouds wrote: ↑Sun Jul 23, 2023 12:25 pm My question is why does Flair advertise 1000TT hiring mins for FO’s when they actually hire at way higher than that

The reason why you are surprised is because you didn't understand the context of the question in the first place.rooster wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2023 11:52 amIf you are an employer and are hiring and the candidates have much more experience than the minimum advertised, wouldn't you rather hire the experience over the minimum? Re: Is Flair hiring agian?
What was the context then? Seems pretty simple. They advertise 1000 and have hired around that. Maybe rare but they still have a pool of resumes to draw from as a result. They will obviously pick the most experienced ones over the least, but that doesn't mean they won't hire someone at that level. What context is there beyond that?lvf_abv_clouds wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2023 12:38 pmThe reason why you are surprised is because you didn't understand the context of the question in the first place.rooster wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2023 11:52 amIf you are an employer and are hiring and the candidates have much more experience than the minimum advertised, wouldn't you rather hire the experience over the minimum? Re: Is Flair hiring agian?
If we are given an offer, can we postpone accepting the offer, and wait for a later ground school, if we do not get the base that we want?
