Training
What happens if a candidate fails a ppc? Second chance? More training? Or fired?

Please don't listen to this troll, he/she really has zero clue what they're talking about. It's entertaining sometimes, but sure leads a lot of people into error

Re: Training
I've known lots of people that have requried extra sim sessions/another PPC over the years. The help is there if you need it. As long as you have a good attitude and are putting the work in, they'll get you through the course.

Re: Training
Regarding original question.
In the event of an unsuccessful PPC for whatever the reason is. The typical path is that another sim session will be scheduled as soon as possible to complete lesson 6 again. Usually this lesson plan can be completed with time remaining and the additional time can be spent cleaning up or practising additional maneuvers for the candidate(s). After that the candidates are recommended to complete an additional PPC event.
The philosophy at WestJet is not to play stump the chump, or drive you out of the company early by unrealistic training. Its the opposite, the instructors are there to guide, support, and mentor you to a successful outcome. The PPC event in itself is just a snap shot in a given time that stuff happens when nerves get the best of us. The training team will do what is required to ensure you have as much confidence as possible entering your checking event.
If further struggles continue to happen then its a case by case basis where the standards pilots/chief pilot(s) and the association convene to determine the best path forward. Both sides want a positive outcome!
Cheers

Re: Training
It depends on the specific employer and the reason for the failure. In some cases, fnf the candidate may be terminated if they fail the PPC multiple times or if their failure indicates that they are not qualified for the job.
Re: Training
Malfunction,
I'm not sure if your question stems from personal experience or trepidation with an upcoming course. Either way reach to your instructors when questions come up and they will assist you however possible to ensure you understand the material or expectations. They are there to guide you through training.
