Interview process

Post by jayflight »

I received an invitation to schedule a 45 minute video interview for an E2 FO position. I’m wondering what the entire interview process is.

Anyone have suggestions on preparing for the video interview? Thoughts on interview prep courses?
Does a successful video interview lead to a face to face interview? If yes, does Porter cover the travel costs?

Thanks

Try Keith D’Mello, he’s your ticket to every airline job you’d ever want.

What date and time is your interview? I’ll make sure they ask you softball questions and instantly offer you a spot.

No face to face. Best prep is be yourself - if you can't pass the video interview on your own personality (cause that's what it's based around) then please checkout Air Canada's hiring portal and as mentioned above, there are prep courses for that airline.

If you are applying for the Montreal base and they offer Montreal then they will cover costs between the two bases to study in YYZ. Otherwise SOL, BUT for commuters they do offer Day 1 commuting benefits (jumpseat).

Best bet for the interview is consider a few events in your career thus far and how those events had a successful outcome and the positive lessons you learned.

Interview should have 2 to 3 ppl - 1 pilot, 2 HR.

Good luck.

Hey folks had my interview for porter FO last week. Anyone knows what’s next? How long it takes for them to get back to me? TIA
Do they let the candidate know if they are not successful?

Good luck. Should be 2 ish weeks before you hear back. And yes they do let you know if you’re unsuccessful. If you are selected, they will send you for pre employment drug and alcohol screening.

Yes and no. YHU still being built. There are people on staff holding a YUL base, but it's place holder. No flights currently originate, as far as I can tell, from YUL. I think most of those guys are on a reserve based schedule and flown into YYZ to cover flights.

That's correct. Their pairings all start in YYZ with a deadhead from YUL-YYZ and then another deadhead from YYZ-YUL once their pairing is done.

So if you're based in YUL you can't really be on reserve right ? Or can you be based in YUL and have reserve in YYZ ?

It is open, it is also currently over staffed as no flights originate.

For now, I believe there are limited spots up for grabs in YUL if any at all beyond what's already been given out. I imagine soon, flights will be originating and we'll see more availability and better scheds come out of there.

I know a few in YUL have had reserve in YYZ. But the company will DH you and put you in hotel. I don’t really see the logic in this, but hey, I’m just a bus driver.

I guess it would basically be a pairing at that point, one where you sit in a hotel room.

The logic is to attract ACPs and trainers on the E1 who don’t want to leave Montreal. That’s why they did it.

You’re right. Hopefully they open it up for the rest of those who want to work out of YUL soon

Well with 100 planes on the way it’s got to happen sooner or later. Whether it’s because we need YUL pilots or somewhere to put the planes lol. Hang in there
