E2 DEC pay or seat protected???
Still debating applying and sliding over from Jazz. I’m wondering with all these E2 DEC’s being hired, now that Porter is transferring Q400 drivers to the E2, is it possible for a DEC to be bumped from their seat and into the right seat because of a more senior Q driver? If so, are they pay protected or is there a possibility of a DEC being bumped to FO pay.
Re: E2 DEC pay or seat protected???
Not sure if you are serious or just trying to stir the pot.
This would not happen. Period.

Re: E2 DEC pay or seat protected???
If you upgraded the entire line of Dash pilots up to the E2 with seniority prior to PACL it would amount to approxiately 20% of the total pilots required for the E2 operation.
Ain't no one getting bumped which is why they haven't discussed it. That said, overall seniority changes a little month to month due to Dash pilots finally making the leap, but it's a drop in the bucket.
Life is pretty darn good right now, and only expected to get better. This is coming from a Toronto based Captain, living in Toronto. For the commuters, I hope things improve a little bit more as bases are added down the line (commuting is tough on the body and family).
Cheers.

There ain’t no one being moved out of position or bumped. Life’s good at porter right now. The train is making its way out of the station. Get on or get off. It’s time to choose.YHZCL wrote: ↑Wed Sep 13, 2023 5:48 pm Still debating applying and sliding over from Jazz. This isn't new. They have been transferring Q pilots to the E2 for a while. The only effect this will have on any E2 DECs is that your seniority won't grow quite as quickly. But you will not get bumped down to FO. It's simply not going to happen. The amount of pilots we need is insane.
Come on over. The water's warm.

Thanks all for the info, it’s about time I start working on my CV.
PRM1, sorry I was not trying to troll. I’ve been part of reduction bids at Jazz in the days of Pilot surplus’ not a shortage like we are experiencing so just trying to get as clear of a picture I can.

No worries.
FYI, our FOAG language brings back all captains before First officers as captains can fill both seats. Once a captain, always a captain on pay.

Hi YHZ
Respectfully, there is a lot of kool-aid from the previous comments. While I agree with their sentiment and do believe reductions are extremely extremely unlikely, I recommend you get a copy of the FOAG and reference the language it contains in order to satisfy your question. Specifically FOAG sections 2.3 (point 4 pertinent to your question) , 2.4, 2.5, and 2.6 talk about reductions and recalls.
Good luck with your decision!

Come on over. The water’s nice. You won’t regret it. Just ask your other jazz friends who made the leap.YHZCL wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 8:55 am Thanks all for the info, it’s about time I start working on my CV.
