Zero Jazz flying(YWG)

Post by cdnavater »

Recently told that there is zero Jazz flying scheduled out of YWG this winter and there is only one 320 to YYC, obviously things are worse than originally thought.

And our union told them again and again for almost a year they needed to address the situation seriously. Instead they ignored it, and when they did decide to do something, they again tried to do the cheapest thing possible which will do nothing to fix their issues.

The YYC CRJ bidpack for OCT shows only 29 departures out of CYYC for the entire month of October! All the rest of the flying starts with a DH to another base to commence flying duties. The pairings end with a DH home to CYYC. Not a great use of pilots is it Jazz???

If you're referencing the AC timetable; don't it's been wrong post COVID (still shows aircraft types no longer flown ETC). Where would the departures be to then? YWG is gone... MAF may be still around at AC's discretion... but where else???

I personally went to ac.com and tried various bookings out of YYC for Nov. No RJ on YWG, no RJ on YVR, no RJ on any Q departure routes like YEG and YLW. So where "for a FACT" do you see regular YYC RJ departures?

Oh true, I thought for sure that the RJ was scheduled to fly the YYC-YEG route after they put the yyc-ywg on the airbus but looks like the Q is still doing that. The RJ is still doing daily flights from yeg to sfo and yzf this winter so there’s still some flying although it’s looking pretty bleak for the YYC RJ base

I’m sure they would love to close the YYC RJ base but they can’t afford to lose all those pilots to other companies. Till then it’s deadheading in and out.

How is that any different than the hundreds of other Jazz pilots that have resigned over the past 12-24 months? The entire YYC Base could resign and it doesn’t represent even 7-8 months of attrition.

I guess you could call it a ‘strategy’. Sure, the 25+ YOS pilots aren’t going anywhere. But who wants to be 5 spots from the bottom of the schedule with 15 years of service?

Rationalizing the YYC base should have happened many years ago. Clinging to it in its current form hasn’t made things any better.

Yup AC continually does its flights from YEG. They haven't axed any of them like they have out of YYC.

I didn't know you were referring to this winter. I know someone that flies the crj out of Calgary and I've seen daily flights there still currently

As someone who has flown the CRJ out of 3 bases for Jazz. I can tell you it's dwindling in the west and not looking too good for coming back. The last frequent route is and soon to be 'was' YWG.

You should take note for next time, a lot of us who post on here fly or have flown these aircraft/routes. We are well aware of what's taking place.

Is it dwindling intentionally or is AC just using the limited Jazz resources out East for now. AKA just like WJ is focusing on the west right now only.

If they closed the base then it would be a permanent direction. If there were excessive amounts of crews sitting on their ass in YYZ and still no YYC flying there'd be a valid concern. Right now I have a bull moose tag and a whitetail buck tag. I'm trying to the freezer and have limited days off. Where do I focus on first?

I’d say you need a second freezer
