Re: Next Ground School?
One of the Line Ops managers posted a picture of a new hire class from Sept 19th on Linkedin. Sounds like no pool and 2 classes per month for the foreseeable future.
Re: Next Ground School?
I received an email recently that I was successful in the application process and placed in a hiring pool with other successful candidates. Has anyone else been placed in a pool? Does anyone know if and when I can expect an offer letter with a ground school date?
Re: Next Ground School?
The same happened with one of my friend of a friend.runway wrote: ↑Thu Sep 21, 2023 9:06 am I received an email recently that I was successful in the application process and placed in a hiring pool with other successful candidates. When was your interview and what day were you notified of the pool?

Any info on when hiring mainline will resume? I went to apply today however only encore postings for captains and first officers are showing on westjet careers page.

You’ll be stuck at Encore for years and not have any seniority when you flow. If your plan is to get on at WJ then go to Jazz. If AC is your goal then go to Encore.Happyflyer78 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 14, 2023 8:50 amThanksPittBoss wrote: ↑Thu Oct 12, 2023 7:21 pm

6000 hours and you’re applying to Encore as an FO? Something doesn’t add up. That’s a 500 hour job. Even WestJet is hiring FOs with 1500 hours now.Happyflyer78 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 14, 2023 10:23 am5680 total flight timePittBoss wrote: ↑Sat Oct 14, 2023 9:52 amWhat's your flight time?Happyflyer78 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 14, 2023 8:50 am

With no airline experience and no maximum hours on the job posting I thought applying would be appropriate.Canadaflyer46 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 14, 2023 10:30 am6000 hours and you’re applying to Encore as an FO? I’m not understanding the “Something doesn’t add up”.

With that kind of time you can find much better jobs than Encore or Jazz, unless it’s all single otter in the north or something along those lines.
If you have some multi pic in that total, you should be getting called from somewhere other than those two.
If you don’t mind answering, what’s the breakdown of your experience?

Experienced King Air Captain across the country doing mostly charters and medevac, from provincial premiers to incubated patients and anything in between, g1000 and proline 21 experience. Good solid background for transition to 705 ops in my opinion however since I have no 705 ops experience maybe this type of experience isn’t desirable. Colleagues have made the move to 795 ops but they’ve all had much less experience, maybe applicants like myself have bad habits which 705 ops see as hard to break.

I'd strongly recommend applying for WestJet B737 First Officer, rather than WestJet Encore First Officer on the Q400.
With that kind of time, if there are no other issues/red flags, you should have absolutely no problem getting hired.
Comparing WJA 737 FO vs WJE Q400 FO, at westjet you will work less, fly a better airplane to more interesting destinations, and make more money. Everyone is different, do whatever is best for you, but it seems like a no brainer to me on paper.
Cheers

Re: Next Ground School?
Thanks for your perspective. I haven’t received an Encore offer letter to date, I assume if I’m not qualified for dash I wouldn’t be for a 737. There’s currently no posting for 737 first officer on westjet careers page. I’m happy on the king air, keep logging the multi pic and see what comes my way. Years ago I remember being told get 500 multi pic and the doors will open to opportunities, so far that hasn’t been the case for me.Gear Jerker wrote: ↑Sat Oct 14, 2023 3:31 pmHi,Happyflyer78 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 14, 2023 3:19 pmI’ve never had a company say my application was incomplete or if there was anything missing.cdnavater wrote: ↑Sat Oct 14, 2023 12:55 pm

I was hired with the same time as you, a little more but basically the same, this was during a hiring wave but nothing like right now.
I’m not sure why you aren’t being called for an interview at Jazz, maybe have someone look over your resume. Your experience would be a welcome addition to the new hires but maybe they assume you won’t stay, no idea.
Have you tried Porter but I agree about not going to Encore, you will be behind and with no number for WJ, it’s a long road. That being said, if you’re looking at Encore as a step to AC then that might be a good bet. Good luck, but I’m sure someone will hire you

Maybe Jazz HR is understaffed and takes time. Yes applied at Porter as well, that is actually my 1st choice. Lots have told me even without any airline experience I will have lots of interest with the background I have. My current employer has been very supportive which is super. They’ve been expecting me to be offered something somewhere quickly however to date that's not been the case.
Re: Next Ground School?
Keep applying!
Timing right now at most carriers may be a little slower due to the Christmas season approaching. We have two ground schools for November already filled from what I can see. Training typically slows down in December due to the busy season and all hands required on line. With the two ground schools training footprint running into December, these two classes will be in the sims up to Christmas. Currently we utilize simulators at home in YYC, YYZ, and abroad to have our crews complete training with minimal delays. You'll find offers for interviews most likely will be presented again early January for all carriers.
Cheers

PittBoss,
That’s beyond the scope of my knowledge as things change week to week. If I was to guess I would think at least two ground schools in Jan.
