Good old Canarsie Climb. Pratt engines on that one is my guess.

Love the 747 and flying into JFK. It's busy, but it's a great airport, especially if you're an Av-Geek like myself.

I’ve never heard of anyone proclaim that they “loved flying into JFK”.RoAF-Mig21 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2023 11:21 am Love the 747 and flying into JFK. It's busy, but it's a great airport, especially if you're an Av-Geek like myself.
A comment such as that leads me to believe that you’d previously flown (Ah, rather eventually got out of) KTEB!

I fly to JFK all the time, multiple times a week sometimes. I love flying there. It has fantastic approaches. Yes, it's challenging and busy, but it's great. The cherry on the cake for me is seeing all the unique airlines that I don't normally see in YYZ such as Kenya Airways, Uzbekistan Airways, Air Serbia, Singapore, Norse Atlantic, All Nippon, Finnair and many more.TeePeeCreeper wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2023 11:48 pmI’ve never heard of anyone proclaim that they “loved flying into JFK”.RoAF-Mig21 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2023 11:21 am Love the 747 and flying into JFK. I've been flying for many years, but I still love plane spotting and aviation photography, not that I have time for that when I'm working, but still nice to see them taxi by, take off, land, etc.
I've never been to KTEB, just JFK, LGA and EWR.
Re: 747 Cockpit view departure Kennedy
Back in the day, I went with my mother to NYC. She wanted to see art museums everyday……yawn.(finally visited them many years later on layovers). But, I had become obsessed with airplanes.
Instead, I went to JFK EVERY day. Back then it was dominated by Pan Am and TWA. And most international carriers flew in 747’s(with a nice mix of 707/DC-8/DC-10/L-1011). Domestic operations on TWA and Pan Am were the good old 727. Real airliners. I would watch from the parking lot of the Pan Am terminal.
I imagined about one day somehow taxiing in/and out in a 747 to JFK.
Back then, the airport was dead in the morning and really busy in the afternoon and evening.
Now, many of those classic airlines are gone and there are way too many Airbuses and Embraers.
As an interesting addition to that vacation, I was able to work out our flights down there from Canada on an indirect route on a 747SP and the return on another 747. Cheap tickets but more time consuming. That was fun for a kid. Lower deck on those flights.

I had to look up that guy "Kennedy Steve". He's hilarious. I don't know if I talked to him. Mostly likely yes. I though that was just a "New York" thing.

Sounds like he is being a dick just to get on Youtube. TACA advises that they are going onto H to the ramp), likely because they were stopped for a while). This Dickhead Steve treats them like crap. But if you start taxiing and don't advise, there is a high probability that they will act in the same manner.rookiepilot wrote: ↑Fri Oct 20, 2023 10:29 am For the unfamiliar……

I just see unprofessional. London controllers impress me much more. They are efficient and don't try to get themselves on Youtube.

I prefer this one.....Advika wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 11:56 am Hi Guys,YouTube Vanced
The 747 cockpit view during departure from Kennedy Airport is truly awe-inspiring. The massive aircraft gracefully ascends into the sky, showcasing the incredible skill of the pilots and the power of this iconic plane. It's a mesmerizing sight that never fails to remind us of the marvels of aviation.

An old SP. It brings back memories of the more manual starting procedures and callouts for the engines. Plus you get to hear the sound of the old RB.211's growling for both engine start and takeoff(especially once airborne). I like how the old 747 had the vertical column engine instruments as well. I guess that is why the new ones have it on their electric screen(777 went back to round guages).

First hole in the Swiss Cheese right there. Especially in an environment where about half the users don't speak English as a first language. I'm surprised it hasn't caused any accidents yet.
As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Well said. The non-standard phrasology shouted at lightening speed with foreign carriers being so prevalent has always seems incredibly unprofessional to me. But I would love a NY controller to come north of the border for a visit to train our Vancouver ATC on pushing tin.pelmet wrote: ↑Fri Oct 20, 2023 1:28 pmSounds like he is being a dick just to get on Youtube.
