I Didn’t say that. The original question was Porter or Jazz. Porter is the highest paying Q400 operator in Canada.braaap Braap wrote: ↑Thu Dec 21, 2023 3:57 amJust staying ahead of Jazz? Is that what we’re aspiring to?CaptDukeNukem wrote: ↑Wed Dec 20, 2023 7:56 pmThey certainly throwing more money than jazz. So…. Until then…….braaap Braap wrote: ↑Wed Dec 20, 2023 12:47 pm
Ya the number of people here who seem to believe Porter is throwing money at us out of the goodness of their hearts is mind boggling. As if all this can't be walked back when the economic headwind returns - a la Covid Return to service MMG reduction.
Jazz or Porter?

Re: Jazz or Porter?
True. Sorry I misinterpreted all the .’s
Highest paid but with the worst work rules/protections. Youve seen both sides Jazz vs Porter and have now been here long enough that Id love to hear your opinions on how our soft compensation (everything but pay) compares (examples would be great).

Feels like PAL is heading towards unionization right now which would mean the PACL won't be far behind.
I wonder how much room the C-suite built into their WaWcon projections to play ball against AC when things come back Q1 or Q2 2024 and the application pool halts as people reverse direction.
That is our biggest Achilles heel in this whole 100 plus jet and 25 Q expansion - manpower. Nothing else - AC can try and play seat price warfare which Porter has an advantage due to seat / mile costs, but where they will crush Porter in this market is straight up manpower. Even if AC pilots only get to 2003 wages, it will be devastating to current and future pilot's mindsets at Porter as to which way to roll for long term. People are currently coming here cause of the delta between first year AC and the initial salary at Porter. What I'm starting to put together is HR is stretched so thin right now, at times it's only one person interviewing, and the job offer goes out 3 or 4 hours later to get them into the next ground school - so the quality of personality is fluctuating now. That's what I'm starting to see on the line from a few crews when you start asking about who did their interview - and it's not even the people with internal references.
I feel if PAL unionizes - it'll be treated like Encore to Westjet. If the two entities unionize separately - my concern would be for the fellas on the Dash and their seniority.

PAL is short for Provincial. PAI is the Dash operation but you raise valid points. Scary that Dash FOs that have only been here a year and have no MPIC are getting the call to Big Red.cjp wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2023 8:41 am Feels like PAL is heading towards unionization right now which would mean the PACL won't be far behind.

Yeah, I don't know why I wrote PAL, lol. PAI is correct, I was just removing the C from PACL (said as pack-el...).braaap Braap wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2023 10:00 amPAL is short for Provincial.
