Helicopter missing near Revelstoke

Post by karmutzen »

Search on for a helicopter traveling Calgary -Sicamous, presumed to have crashed east of Revelstoke. Had modeS, can't see it in Flightradar. Single ELT ping near Roger's Pass, manually activated? Hope it wasn't yet one more without sat-tracking.

Crash located. Sole occupant pilot deceased. Moving on to lessons learned. Confirm US registered 206.

What in hell could be so important in Sicamous that you would risk almost certain, in this case certain, death to fly a 206 there in darkness and rain in snow. The Cormorant turned around during the response to the ELT ping at Malakwa for awful weather. I talked to someone there, but it was rooftop low and scared the shite out of a lot of folks on the ground.
