COMPASS Test

Post by El_Capitano »

Greetings,
Anyone have any info on the Flair COMPASS test? I have found a few websites that offer apparent examples/simulators of it/them, but it seems like not having an adequate keyboard/flight controls might hinder your performance?...unless pilottest dot com is way off on this?

Thanks in advance!

A whack of math questions without a calculator, hand and eye coordination using a joystick and pedals, a part that is basically SkiFree, simple memory test with a set of numbers.

Go get em tiger.

Also some ATPL questions, with a European flavour.

How much of the test that you’ll be required to complete depends on your experience level. If you’re applying for a DEC position I believe that you skip the ATPL questions and possibly the math section. You’ll complete the joystick and rudder pedal exercise that you mentioned, as well as some multi tasking/memory tasks. There are some good examples available online and it’s nothing too difficult. Go in there well rested and you’ll be fine. Good luck!

Compass test is pretty straight forward and the score you need depends on the position you applied for.

Math, memory test, logical sequence if I remember correctly, questions relating to actual aviation stuff (spool up time from idle to max thrust, descent calculations for a jet at a certain altitude to reach this next altitude in time and distance, etc), eye hand coordination, spacial orientation logic test based on station-aircraft positioning.. And I feel like I'm forgetting one test but that's pretty much it.

If you apply as an FO your score will matter but there's certain categories I believe that won't matter as much. Don't over think it, and good luck!

Wait, what we gotta know math? The only math I did last pairing was seeing how much my meal and pint in the US was going to cost me in Canadian Pesos when I get my Visa statement.

If memory serves, a little bit of everything. %, fractions, divisions, little algebra etc. Some questions are just simple divisions, some other questions will be little more complex for example asking to calculate a volume based on dimensions and then using percentage to work out how much of A liquid can fit compared to B liquid asking for the answer in weight/masse.

But don't over think it. I'm no math wiz but made it in no problem at a time when there was plenty of pilots available in the market. Your results will matter, but they still need to hire. They'll just take whoever scores higher but that includes interview, psychometric tests, not just the COMPASS test.

Cheers
