MMG or Higher per hour pay?
What is more advantageous?
$100 with 75 MMG
or
$88.24 with 85 MMG
Both give the same monthly income. So why would someone pick one over the other?
The only thing I can think of is the higher pay per hour is better if you pickup more flying putting you into overtime.

Re: MMG or Higher per hour pay?
The real question is, can I take advantage and do 62.5/h and 120 MMG.
Trying to build that logbook, and I would work for free if I could get more hours!

Higher hourly pay. When you go into OT whether by choice or by going over block it’s more $$$Me262 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 18, 2024 8:44 pm What is more advantageous?

Re: MMG or Higher per hour pay?
With 0 open flying and just doing my 18 days I’m regularly going 10-15 hours over block. With the higher rate it’s way more pay than just hitting the MMG in 18 days and making base pay.Me262 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 18, 2024 8:44 pm What is more advantageous?

Just ask tbaylx. With Flairs 85 MMG guarantee over everyone else they are on par with everyone, it makes no sense. lol
Higher rate all the way. Even the 10 hr separation from 75 - 85 bumps you up on the pay each month which at the end of the year can be tens of thousands depending on company/equipment.

I honestly thought this had to be satirical and still hope it was!Me262 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 18, 2024 8:44 pm What is more advantageous?

Like mentioned, the new Flair contract was presented as Flair pilots make more because of the 85 guarantee, it’s not more if you have to work more for it, it more work.
Keep in mind pilot contracts include MMG so that when things slow down it prevents them from reducing monthly blocks and having a bunch of part time pilots. Layoffs, recalls and retraining are expensive so they would prefer to keep you on at a reduced block but no one is flying at the minimum, now or for the past two years.
Bottom line, at 75 MMG you’ll work less days which frees you up to either add a couple days of OT or encore time at home for the same pay as the lower pay higher block pilots.

I personally think if you are splitting these hairs, you are definitely not forward thinking and looking out for your career. There is A LOT more at stake than your minimum semi-monthly paycheck.Me262 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 18, 2024 8:44 pm What is more advantageous?

Re: MMG or Higher per hour pay?
Of course the answer is that it depends. If you fly all min credit days, or less than mmg, then 85 is better. If you fly a lot and hit mmg and OT is happening, then a lower mmg would be better. Last year I flew 800 hours, but got paid for 1020, plus I did another 20 k in double time GDOs. For me, I averaged 66 hours of flying for 85 hours of pay, if I worked this schedule at a company that only paid 75 hours at the same wage, the pay cut would have been 12%. Now that wasn't specifically what you asked, but since nobody is offering me 12% more money for a 12% lower mmg, that's the answer you get...
