Processing, by an employee of the Department of Transport, of a medical certificate in respect of a pilot licence or a pilot permit other than a student pilot permitYep, somehow I think my telemedicine triggered my account as well. But my bill was 63.19! I tried to figure out the rest, and only if they charged me HST 15% (which I don't live in such a province) makes sense (55 * 1.15 = 63.25)7ECA wrote: ↑Thu Jan 18, 2024 9:21 pm Nope, been a thing since Christ was a carpenter. Always been a bit hit and miss with actually getting billed, though. For the longest time the medical processing fee was a flat rate $55. Then a few years back, the Liberals introduced a motion to allow Federal departments to increase processing and routine fees which is tied to inflation.
So, what was once a flat fee of $55/medical renewal has been creeping up each year for the past number of years. But, TC being TC, they're atrocious at actually getting around to charging you. The problem is, at some point or another you'll call Transport or email them... and suddenly your file seems to get flagged and you'll get dinged.
Looking at my records, I got nicked yearly for a while, then they forgot about me until I put in an attestation in 2020... but I had to email them about the validity period - and the fee was $56.21. Then they forgot about me until 2023, when I did a telemedicine renewal and again emailed TC about something to do with it... billed $59.16.

And you backpayed?enbt wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 6:00 pm For years and years I never got charged the $55 for the medical. But then every few years a final notice or equivalent would appear in the mail demanding several hundred bucks in back fees or they would send it to collection agency. I always wondered why they didn’t have my address for routine bills but they could find it for a final notice?

Had to back pay it all or just the last medical?
