Hi to all. I'm a South American pilot with a plan to go study in Canada for 2 years. After graduation, I will be eligible for a 2-year open work permit (PGWP). I plan to convert my FAA licenses to TC while studying since there's no flying required. Has anyone got a job as a pilot (other than flight instructor) with an open work permit?
I have around 1230 hrs TT and 800 hrs as an instructor (Sadly the flight instructor license is not eligible for conversion and requires flying)
Thanks to all!

Have you looked into the housing situation in Canada? I recommend returning to South America if can after your studies. You will be much happier.RedMaxx wrote: ↑Sat Feb 03, 2024 10:48 am Hi to all. Hi,
AFAIK, most of the 705s and some small operators will not hire people unless they are Canadian Citizens/Permanent Residents.
But there are smaller carriers, flight training units etc. that do hire people with PGWP.

Got 703 job with 3 years on my PGWP, 1 year cleaning planes, 2 years of King Air FO until getting PR. I imagine most 703 operators don't care. They're
having a hard time retaining FOs for over a year.
