Anyone recently did sim eval in YVR could help me with some questions?
Feel free to PM Thanks in advance.
Easy :
Take-off, steep turn, hold, engine failure, once the exercise is complete, they give back the engine for an ILS approach. Done.
If unstable, a go-around, followed by a visual approach backed up by the ILS will be performed.

Do you know what the hold type is? VOR, NDB, GPS. Got a sim ride in YVR on the 19th

Every 3 weeks. Last was 22 April, so count from there.
Was told by a recruiter today that they’re currently hiring for September ground schools. Not sure if they’re taking a summer pause like Porter Qs or if they’re just that full..

I believe there is a pause for summer, plenty of FOs not enough Captains!

Correct. Most of the newer F/O hires are no where near upgradable anytime soon and most of the F/O that are don’t want to deal with the lousy schedule a junior Captain has.

This would make sense. In the email says hiring into the fall. Wasnt sure if they took a break for summer or not. Now I know i guess.

Does anyone know what the bid was for the 13 May class?
Sometimes when you think the bid patterns will give you insight to what the future bids might be, the opposite is true. Some classes are mostly east, others west, the equipment proportion has a mix of everything, then all of a sudden it’s lop sided, then mixes again.

Well said, I'd personally go in with no hunches or ideas... you might be royally disappointed if you do.

I still find it nuts that when you sign an offer letter you have no idea what you’ll fly or where you’ll be.
It's probably why folks more established in life dont apply there, only youngsters desparate for putting hours in the book.

Also every other major airline in the world with Multiple types and multiple bases….
Westjet doesn’t count cause they don’t hire onto the 787. So every position is a 737 the only variable is base
