Re: PAL Q
YYT base does PAL routes, some AC flying (just YHZ and back lately), and charters.
YHZ does AC flying.
YUL does PAL routes and charters.
Lots of single day pairings, 2 day pairings.
Contract limits pairing length to 4 days for sched, 6 days for charter (rare, and normally get taken by people that want that stuff).
Some people end up covering other base's work but it's normally DH up, do a day or two, DH back. Seems to go to people that want it more than not...

Re: PAL Q
You bid your schedule, but yytfo listed it all accurately.
You can be home every night if you want to bid that way. Captains occasionally get called in to YUL to cover some flying (mostly on the 300)
Vibes are generally good in YYT at least, I couldn't speak to the other bases. Pay isn't enough to keep mainlanders in YYT long term, there's higher turnover in Halifax and Montreal.
Most of the issues have been worked out with the AC flying now.

Things in YHZ are good. All AC flying as mentioned above. Right now just 2 day pairings. Usually 3 flights a day. Combination of return flights to YOW YDF YQX and YYR. It’s very much an AC operation, feels like my old days at Air Nova. (I didn’t come here from JAZZ, just for the record)
The AC CSR’s and ramp folk seem pretty happy with PAL from the comments I hear.
Captains are busy because we are short, but we have just hired (in the YUL base) and upgraded a couple. We have more FO’s than skippers right now, so some of the FO’s are complaining about not flying enough. That will change once the new hires and upgrades get released I reckon. Looking at the AC schedule there appears to be more flying for us in the summer.
No pilots have left the YHZ base yet, most of the FO’s seem pretty happy, however I’m sure some will leave in search of bigger equipment.
The vibe in YHZ is good from what I can tell, a lot of smiles and laughing at the gate during report time. I’ve worked at Air Nova/JAZZ, did a stint at Westjet, and then did corporate for many years and I’m pretty happy here.
If you want to stay in the maritimes and avoid a commute to YUL or YYZ it’s not a bad place to hang your hat.

Re: PAL Q
I see the direct entry is an option, do you get a choice of q or classic in yhz?
Re: PAL Q
Funny, when I fly through YHZ I’ve heard several sales agents say PAL is the new EVAS just without the busing/taxiing the passengers.NovaBoy wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2024 5:04 am Things in YHZ are good. What’s the hiring requirements lately? My thousands of PIC king air hours didn’t make the cut a few months back.NovaBoy wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2024 5:04 am Things in YHZ are good. Perhaps it’s not your ‘thousands of… hours’ that’s holding you back?
Say, what's that mountain goat doing up here in the mist?
