I sent mine around the beginning of December and I just got mine back today and wow....I'm embarrassed with how bad it looks. It honestly looks like someone made it in their basement.
Someone mentioned here that the new ones look quite a bit cheaper but I guess I wasn't suspecting them to be this bad.
I sent a message to TC regarding the inaccurate medical date. It's actually the fault of Civil Aviation Medicine, they haven't updated on their end. CAM has an online mechanism to request the status of your medical, once I used that the medical date was updated on my TC online licence file. I've requested a new sticker, we'll see what happens.
My adb expires April 1st.I was told not to send it in before the end of January so I sent it in the end of February & am awaiting its arrival.
I haven’t received any medical stickers in a few years & asked my doctor about it - he said that medical was way behind & his signature would be enough.
Interested to see what will show up now & when it might arrive.
Agreed, quality wise its nothing special, yeah its crap compared to the old ones ha ha, but it does the job. Remember the old licence and medical was just a piece of paper so this one beats that I would say.
I disagree. Far better to have a piece of paper that only gets replaced when there are changes to it. A side benefit is less work for TC. I am still a big fan of the FAA pilot certificates. Easy to carry, no expiry, and more durable. No real need for it to be photo ID. If they really want a photo with it mandate carriage of a passport/ID card/driver's license/other government photo ID along with the license. Most people already carry a driver's license anyways.

I agree, paper worked fine and prefer a FAA like card. And it's easy to insert a picture into a card like a driver's license

True, the old licences were simple and effective. The temporary licences I have received recently are exactly like the old licences with the advantage that TC sent an email with a PDF so I could print out of the licence. So yes there is a lot to be said about the old licences.
