Let's go!!!

Post by RippleRock »

Impass to be declared tomorrow. Corp has --ZERO-- interest in providing a wage and work package that recognizes our contribution to the organizations success over the last 20 years, while reaping hundreds of millions in benifits removed directly out of our previous contracts.

Countdown starts.

Start saving or get a line of credit in order. Could be out for a while. Count on it.

My guess is Sept 15th on or about. Wear you red lanyard as a message to your fellow pilots that you have their back.

Considering the protracted mediation process just undertaken by AC/ALPA - it is unlikely that a conciliation officer will magically stimulate an agreement nor will mediation follow conciliation.

Notice of dispute starts the clock.

AC pilots may be on strike shortly after Labour Day.

Decisions or lack thereof have consequences.

Great window to apply pressure. Company’s going to feel the squeeze as the end of summer/thanksgiving bookings get impacted by medias spin of the threat of looming labour action

Fired Up Pilots ready to March.

(and give me 5:30 min day, better vacation, training in the block, better reserve bidding and bidding in general and more).

Not sure the corp has realized yet, but the demographics are a lot different than the past. Generationally and just age wise. Different priorities. Can’t bribe me with just money. Lifestyle to me is #1 and pay is secondary. I would not work our current contract for 500k. Both issues must be addressed and it’s time to fix the progression ladder here as well. No more 16 days across the whole list. No more BS 35 hour layovers in Montreal.

Really? Don't you work at AC? Sounds like you signed up for the BS knowingly.

20 years of concessions for Air Canada Pilots in all areas of the contract. Nobody signed up for that BS.

What's the earliest a strike could legally happen?

You misunderstand what I'm saying.

In the context of this new contract. If I had to choose between keeping the same working conditions and getting a ton of money, or taking a smaller raise and making significant improvements in out WAWCON, I would take the latter.

How can "other pilots" help and what can they do to support AC pilots, while continuing their obligation toward their employer? I'd feel really bad going to work passing hundreds of (striking) AC pilots, that I may one day to join. With that being said, I work for a different company and we're in a different possition and my obligations toward my employer must be met...

On that note, where do I get a red lanyard? I want to wear it at work too.

Imagine the government appointments the conciliator right away and we're on strike in August instead. That would be a short strike probably, with the least disruption to our passengers.

I don't think "when" it actually happens matters much. All aircraft are nearly full ALL THE TIME. The threat of a strike will affect forward bookings severely. If I were looking to head to Europe in September or October, I'd book elsewhere.

Be prepared to be "offline" for at least 3 weeks, maybe a bit more. We won't see a WCC unless each of us is prepared to do that. It will be worth it 1000 fold.

A WCC contract will revolutionize your entire career path, your family life and your retirement. DON'T SELL YOURSELF SHORT.

You will get info from your union.

Personally I like the get involved touch. Walk right up to us. Walk a couple of laps and then go to work.

Others don't like this because you technically walk through the picket.

You will be given protocol

If we are in strike and you work for a competitor, we WANT you to go to work. Get our passengers where they need to go and deprive our employer of the revenue. Do it on a draft on a day off if you feel like it. Stop and say “ Hi” to us on the picket line and enjoy the extra flying knowing you are helping us out.
