Duty Times
Flying a floatplane for a lodge, on my one day a week off I get to use it personally. Am I going to run into problems? I won’t exceed my duty times as we are not that busy.

Re: Duty Times
You should be fine. I suggest you look up flight duty limitations for 703 airlines. Knowing the CARs is part of the job. I think, the only issue you may run into is the 60 hours of “duty” hours a week. But have a read through anyway.
Here is the link.

Re: Duty Times
Mostly depends on what your days off are.
3/30 and 5/42 tend to be what get people who work a lot of days regardless of the number of duty hours.

Re: Duty Times
Why does this matter? If he flies the plane for fun on his days off, it doesn't count as a duty day or as duty time. It does count as flight time.
Why would flying a plane in your private time affect this 60 hours of duty?CaptDukeNukem wrote: ↑Sun Jun 23, 2024 7:51 pm

Re: Duty Times
I think you missed the part where they're flying for the lodge on the 1 day off their regular job. They're getting paid, wither cash or barter of personal use of plane.digits_ wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2024 8:22 amWhy does this matter? It will 100% cause problems if it comes to light, especially if an accident occurs.

That's not how I interpret the initial message.sarg wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2024 8:41 amI think you missed the part where they're flying for the lodge on the 1 day off their regular job. OP is (fulltime?) employed by a lodge. On their day off their employer lets them take the plane for a joyride without pay. If that's truly the set up, I don't see an issue.
If it's a 'joyride which happens to have some passengers on board that happen to stay in the lodge', then I agree it's extremely fishy and very likely problematic.

Oops I missed the part they get to use it for personal use. I thought the OP was worried he’d run into duty issues.
I retract my comments.

Re: Duty Times
Day off the plane is used by me personally to fish or relax at any one of our camps or go wherever I want within reason. Duty days are usually not over 4-5 hours a day.

I see no issue. Sounds like a good time. Go enjoy relax and have fun!
