Re: AMEs Done
The Westjet spin would be more hilarious if it didn't have the potential to seriously mislead people. The numbers they are offering keep changing daily in their press releases and they are going full bore on the danger to the public now. Thank god there is at least a union to defend the freedom to bargain for wages or the corporate apologists would gladly sell us all out for pennies on the dollar. The sad part is how little it takes to bribe suckers like justapassenger to sell everyone out. Fake capitalists like them don't actually want to compete because they are incompetent and greedy. They just run begging for help from the government if they can't create a monopoly/monopsony to artificially manipulate pricing and wages. Wouldn't it be nice if we could do surge pricing with our wages just like the company does with tickets.

Pfff….these guy ‘fat cats’ steer the company and fall hard when it fails. I feel you should get something but this credit is crazy…..and putting your customers in the middle. The deal was to go back to the table. The union lasted for one day of the four that THEY agreed upon……oh, but it’s the ‘fat cats’ fault. Right….union greed and at the customers expense that you ‘keep safe’…..sure looks like it!!! I’ve been telling everyone the truth today: it’s the AMEs fault. WJs at the table, they are not!! Go shake some more NDP hands! Instead of looking in the mirror to fix your union card…look at the industries that are non union and how much further they are!!! Card carries never win.goingnowherefast wrote: ↑Wed Jun 26, 2024 7:07 pm Years and years of fat cats getting fatter. The folks actually doing the work getting a smaller and smaller piece of the pie.

I'm not even sure how to counter such blatant misinformation. Go away troll. 5 minutes on Google provides proof everything in that post is wrong.
Re: AMEs Done
And yet you seem shocked that the pilots are in the same boat as us....where they only make half what their US counterparts make. You still never answered if you would support them if they went on strike.justapassenger wrote: ↑Wed Jun 26, 2024 11:00 pmPfff….these guy ‘fat cats’ steer the company and fall hard when it fails. The fat cats don't fall hard. They blame everyone else for their failures, get massive payouts, and then move on to screw up other companies with their incompetence.justapassenger wrote: ↑Wed Jun 26, 2024 11:00 pmPfff….these guy ‘fat cats’ steer the company and fall hard when it fails. It is time the airlines in the country come to realize that the days of the Canadian discount on labour is over. You can whine about it all you want, but you need to deal with that reality, or enjoy your static display of airplanes.
Re: AMEs Done
After four decades of hearing managers talk about market value wages, they are now complaining when the market forces shifted in favour of the employee groups.
Thanks to inflation, everyone but the executives have taken a real wage cut. We have a long way to go to get back to where we should be, and even further.
Stop complaining about the system you used to keep everyone down, and embrace change.

I'm going to knock this up a notch with my spice weasle. Bam!

"On the morning of June 25, AMFA submitted its proposal presenting terms that, according to membership surveys, would achieve contract ratification and labour peace. WestJet counter-proposed an economic enhancement of less than 1% at the cost of an extended contract term -- the effective affirmation of the Company’s previous public statements that it would refuse to engage in meaningful negotiations with respect to economic issues.
AMFA Negotiators worked into the evening and submitted a counter-proposal."
I would have walked away after the first day as well, since it's clear WJ Management wasn't there to actually negotiate in good faith. 1%? Give me a break.

Now that bargaining has been abridged in favour of arbitration, one wonders how many will vote with their feet if the arbitrated amount falls short of reasonable expectations? Winning the battle, but losing the war, etc…

The government didn’t interfere with WJ and Encore pilots, the railway or the Air Transat FAs. What makes anyone think they will with AC? The AMEs are bargaining for their first collective agreement AND had a failed TA. There’s no comparison, and AC management has no silver bullet waiting for them.

Was told here the Liberals would never, ever order anyone back to work. That only Harper would do that.
Jokes on Liberal supporters.

Ah apologies, I didn't know it was their first collective agreement, I thought they had one in place before. That makes a bit more sense then. Still sucks for them though.theacolyte wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2024 2:39 pm The AMEs are bargaining for their first collective agreement AND had a failed TA. Haha. You all don’t get it. You need to think big picture and like a CEO. There is a budget and pool for wages and compensation. It grows, what are they to do?!?! Raise tickets….people don’t fly….decrease profits…..no, that’s not a mission of a CEO….you layoff. You put yourself in this position. Good luck. Your union postured and did the wrong move. That’s what you get for a US union.planenuts wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2024 1:36 pm Great....now we will see mass layoffs.

And to think of all the people that vote liberal because they “respect workers rights”. Ouch. Just one more notch to add to Trudeaus corruption on the way out. He will do the same for Air Canada pilots next.
