Is Flair still hiring?
Hello, does anyone know if Flair is hiring this summer? And how long does the hiring process take?

Re: Is Flair still hiring?
Looks like we're taking applications, but I am unclear on the timeline for the hiring process. Haven't heard much on it lately, my best guess is nothing is going to happen before fall.
I would recommend you apply and contact the recrutement team afterwards, they will be able to tell you the details and timeline.

Probably pick up a ton of hiring in the fall once AC gets their new contract and all the Flair pilots leave for a better future.

Ok that's funny.
But in all seriousness, we just got a 15-30% pay raise and morale is decent among most of the pilots. We grumble, but for the most part we're happy

I don’t disagree with you. I think flair provides a great product for the cost minded individual or family. And I hope they stick around for the foreseeable future. Lots of bad media at times and I hope hiring continues at a good pace.co-joe wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2024 1:32 pmOk that's funny.

The last time we got a much deserved pay bump nobody left for about 6 months, but then Porter raised Captain pay by 20k over ours and we became their farm team overnight. The suggestion that AC's new contract will determine Flair's staffing needs is likely not far off, however LOU5 proved that our management is willing to meet market forces and in some cases exceed them. That or getting more aircraft could change things overnight. As for now, I don't think there are many vacancies, but I'm pretty far away being in the know...

Re: Is Flair still hiring?
Well, it really depends on your base. Looking at August, it seems like the company is going back to mostly single day pairings, but there still are a lot of multidays in certain bases. If you are looking at a port base (YOW/YUL), then it's all multidays.
We know the company wants to eliminate as much as possible the longer pairings and go back to single day pairings, but that is going to take a little bit of time to adjust the rosters and there will always be multiday pairings regardless. Some of our bases have upwards of 90% single days in August.
Re: Is Flair still hiring?
Crazy. Me personally love the 4 day pairings, spending time in a multitude of cities. I only wish they were longer layovers

That’s crazy… if it’s true FOs fly 80-90 hrs a month on single day pairings that would be a terrible schedule if you work one day at a time… usually it’s better when you work 3-4 days then few offthe_new_guy wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 9:34 amWell, it really depends on your base. How does one ascertain that when they have never worked in the industry let alone at a 704/705 which has pairings?

Right. So we’ve ascertained that you’re giving advice to 705 qualified folks while still not gainfully employed at a 703? Yep, I know what to think.Me262 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 10:18 pmYou can think whatever you want to thinkTeePeeCreeper wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 7:45 pmHow does one ascertain that when they have never worked in the industry let alone at a 704/705 which has pairings?

Re: Is Flair still hiring?
I don't think Flair will be able to compete with just "market forces" when the AC contract is complete. There are a lot of people waiting to make the jump (or try making the jump) to AC until the pay is improved and they can afford to do so. But even if Flair matches our coming pay raise, AC is still a much more secure future for a pilot in their 20's-30's... I can't see Flair figuring out a way to keep those pilots. Perhaps the ones that maybe only have 10-15 years left and are willing to make the risk of staying in exchange for having good seniority at Flair. If I was a betting man, I don't think Flair will be around in 30 years when a lot of pilots are going to be retiring.co-joe wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2024 1:32 pmOk that's funny.

Re: Is Flair still hiring?
AC has the power to be the top paying company, that part is easy, what they don't seem to have is the willingness to provide the best lifestyle. Brutally unproductive blocks, training on days off, spend your life either commuting with no commuting policy, or moving to the 3 most expensive cities in the country, terrible vacation day credit, cumbersome SOP based on old aircraft types, B scale pension, and probably 10 other hostile lifestyle destroying factors most people don't realize till they arrive. Flat pay is the icing on the cake.
Until recently they could attract anyone they want, based mostly on the fact that nobody was willing or able to compete with them on lifestyle, but there's way batter career paths in this country now. I am meeting more and more people that are turning down job offers there, not solely based on money.

Re: Is Flair still hiring?
Everything you just listed is going to get blown up in about 2.5 months. It is quite literally the reason there is (as management has said) 1200 proposals on the table. Do you really think it is just about pay?co-joe wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2024 9:44 am AC has the power to be the top paying company, that part is easy, what they don't seem to have is the willingness to provide the best lifestyle.
