Re: Fleet choices
The timer starts when you show up at the gate. Brakes off means nothing for FDP. Just means you’re getting paid. So yea, get the doors closed and brakes off.
Re: Fleet choices
But how are you guys going to close the door, get the brakes off, and still get the RP/Auggie on board?
Better thing is to just say no early and often as soon as it's apparent you after going over contract. Walking and not "making it work" is the correct behaviour to their poor planning, inadequate scheduling, and industry worst work rules.
When you're consistent in shutting it down and walking, crew sked learns you won't go and is being proactive and a 3rd or 4th is being called in ahead of time when there's a line of weather in the area or a possible delay foreseen.
Follow the contract. Don't extend.

This is 100% the only effective way to start making a difference.altiplano wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2024 8:31 pm But how are you guys going to close the door, get the brakes off, and still get the RP/Auggie on board?

I can't believe we waited years for the new duty regulations and they still allow for unaugmented oceanic crossings. It's not safe. By the time you get out of the airplane you feel intoxicated with fatigue.

The new duty regs did basically nothing to improve the lifestyle and fatigue of Canadian pilots at 705.

A little, but not a lot. Having augmented required now on long days with early morning departures is a godsend, ie Southern turns, but I firmly believe the limits should start ratcheting up earlier in the evening than they currently are in order to cover crossings. You can be flat out delirious after flying all night then dealing with the requisite multiple runway changes in Rome, it's awful. And it's downright inhumane trying to do it on airplane coffee.
