Talking of cost, I just flew AC economy in the A320 with 32in seat pitch, and it was pretty comfortable for 3 hours. Just enough legroom for me (6ft3). No problem, it met my very meagre expectations for the $800 domestic flight, which seemed to be close to full.

Compare to recent flights with WJ: I actually started taking my own seat cushion because the seats are so uncomfortable. Last time on WJ I tested the seat without the cushion, and it's like sitting on concrete with a very small bit of padding. It looks like WJ has 1-2in of padding in their seats, and AC has about 4in. Having less padding allows you to reduce the seat pitch to 29in so you can fit in an extra row of seats, but it just makes the seats unusuable for anything longer than 15mins. I admit I don't have much padding in my ass, but I shouldn't have to have a lardy ass to have a comfortable flight.

realised the error of their ways??? More like Porter is shaking things up and forcing them to compete. Free Wifi on the E2 -> Free messaging for Bell/Aeroplan members. Free Beer and Wine + Premium snacks -> Free Beer and Wine (But only in North America cause Porter hasn't screwed with us to the Caribbean yet). Now you got Westjet trying to play catchup by getting in bed with SpaceX and Telus.

Finally seeing cracks in the Duopoly. Proud to be a part of Porter and seeing the effects of this disruption/competition.

To think AC and WJ are improving their service out of good will is an absolute joke.

And what, Porter is just generous? Porter is trying to stand out and free stuff is how they are doing it, if they thought they could gain market share without that they would do it, cost is king and free stuff is anti revenue

Oh you’re flying to the Caribbean with AC? Nope. No booze. Ac is dollars and cents. If you actually are thick enough to not understand how porter is gaining market share, you should really hop on a Porter flight. San Diego and Palm Springs was just announced. I hear it’s nice there.

Westjet was already planning for a new wifi provider and free wifi pre pandemic. If anything Porter was playing catch up with all the US carriers, primarily Jetblue.

Where they planning free texting like AC and then had to pony up to match Porter's full WIFI?

Actually , they were aligning their wifi offering to match their large codeshare partner Delta, which has always offered complimentary wifi with skymiles frequent flier memberships.

Don’t get your panties in a bunch, I’m only saying Porter is not doing because they love to give away free stuff, it’s for competition, they need to stand out, otherwise just another airline with the same airfare.
