Most of the damage is to the spoilers as they are very thin metal, the fuselage and wings are much thicker and supported by a lot of structure and in most of the cases didn't get damaged. To be honest, pilfering parts from those cargo paper weights WS wasted all that money on, might be the best use for them.goingnowherefast wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 1:19 pmYeah, lets just borrow a fuselage or wing skin. Cause those are easy to swap from plane to plane.Hugh Jasshole wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 9:41 am Where were the cargo planes during the Hail storm? Did they get pummeled? If not, they would be a good source of parts to repair damaged YYC aircraft.

Re: WestJet Cargo
While it’s funny, there are parts that are being used from other stored aircraft. Flaps, slats, spoilers etc…that sustained most of the damage.goingnowherefast wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 1:19 pmYeah, lets just borrow a fuselage or wing skin. Re: WestJet Cargo
Damage was not limited to flaps, slats, and spoilers alone. The top surface of aircraft as well as the horizontal stabilizer on some sustained damage and need to be mapped and addressed in consultation with Boeing. These aircraft require more than swapping parts.

As someone with a MBA, there was an assumption everyone would online shop at the same volume due to convenience. That would necessitate faster delivery but everyone people got used to driving into stores again.ant_321 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 5:22 amI didn’t understand the move from the get go for both westjet and AC. It was obvious to me where all the demand was coming from and that it would disappear when passengers started flying again. It makes me wonder how smart you have to be to get an MBA or be an executive these days.MaxAuto wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 4:24 am A lot of carriers got exited during COVID because of the high demand for freighters. That demand was higher because the belly space on passenger aircraft was almost reduced to nothing. Air Canada and Westjet thought they could capitalize on this demand, but with the belly space back world wide I don't see how they could have sustained this. I'm suprised they didn't anticipate this in the first place.
How long will AC continue their cargo operation?

I understand that, from what I’ve read besides for a few months at the peak of the pandemic when online sales were through the roof, sales haven’t decreased much post pandemic. Surely they must have been able to forecast a slight dip in demand and a huge influx of supply once belly cargo starting moving again in airliners.newlygrounded wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 1:37 pmAs someone with a MBA, there was an assumption everyone would online shop at the same volume due to convenience.
