Never heard back
Hello Aviators,
Happy Halloween!
Recently moved to Canada to be with partner and got my ATPL here.
Applied to AC around end of August but yet to hear back from them.
I have more than 4000 hours of airline/military experience outside of Canada, none in Canada.
Has anyone applied and heard back from AC over the last couple of months, or does it take longer to hear back from them?

Re: Never heard back
Seems odd - they are desperate. There must be something significant missing from your application. Are you Canadian or have a PR? I know that they don't hire people who don't have either.

Re: Never heard back
I applied for 3 years in a row with more experience than they require and never heard back, i gave up during covid.
A few friends applied last summer and most of them got the call after 3 weeks max.
(I came back from overseas about 10 years ago).

Re: Never heard back
If you don’t a call back in this market with experience exceeding the minimum, then there’s a reason they aren’t calling you back. No one knows what that is as it varies for all. But somewhere, someone doesn’t like you.

Re: Never heard back
Pretty sure it asks that question on the application. Are you legally entitled to work in Canada?
And I think they hire people with work visas. But can’t be 100%

I do have a PR. Guess they dont like my name.
I have heard back from all others, either positive or negative responses. Guess I should forget AC exists.
Them grapes were sour anyways.

Jet time?
PR?
You should get a call.
Remember these are office clerks that don't understand or care about the career and life implications they create when they mishandle or miss a file. I would reapply. There is every sort of name coming through that door, and most of them aren't Bob or Doug.
Good luck.

Why reapply? Try once, maybe twice at most within 6 months. If you don’t get it, Are you gonna sit at a dead end job waiting to be the flag holder at the Olympics or are you just gonna go do what you know how to do.altiplano wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2024 8:32 amTC ATPL?flyingtonwhr wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2024 8:08 am I do have a PR. The fly the flag shit and people holding out for AC cuz it is our country is madness.
AC isn’t the country’s airline anymore. That has long been gone, and if you think your life will be better there, you will soon be evaluating what you traded in order to sit in a backseat Paris CDG

I agree with both of you. I am now replying back to the positive interview calls while I wait sometime to reapply at AC. If it works, well and good otherwise looking at other options.CaptDukeNukem wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2024 9:32 amWhy reapply? Try once, maybe twice at most within 6 months. I'm not slamming other operators, just trying to offer a positive solution. Maybe put your troll pants back in the closet.
I'm providing a suggestion on the issue of why he didn't get a response from his application.
Files get missed or accidentally overlooked/misdirected. Their online application system handles thousands of applications into all departments at an organization with 40,000 employees.
Reapplying puts it back on top, also makes sure that you didn't miss checking a box on the initial application.

Re: Never heard back
I’m in a similar position myself ..
I’m from Vancouver, though I’ve spent my flying career so far in the UK as my folks moved us over in my teens. Opportunities were good here, so I stayed for work and did the Licenses here and last year got the TC ATPL.
I’ve got 7000 TT, half on A320/330 and I’m a current A321 Skipper with 500 TT PIC. I hold both British/Canadian Passports and at 37 I have a bit of a desire to return as all my family moved back a while ago.
I’ve applied twice since having TC ticket and I’ve heard f”k all. I’m going to throw another in and make it very clear I’m Canadian and have the appropriate paperwork. I appreciate I’m not home grown talent but I thought I may have some skills to bring to the table.
No axe to grind here, any tips would be appreciated.
Apart from telling me not to bother
.
All the best.

Keep at ‘er then. I don’t care.
With the already dwindling stack of resumes at all majors, I’m sure your resume is already at the top.
Also, we don’t work in a a paper world anymore. There is no stack.

Re: Never heard back
This is odd. With that history and experience the fact that you didn't even get a reply seems to indicate something went missing or awry with your application. I would defintely keep investigating/pushing until you get something - a PFO or an interview, to be sure you didn't get overlooked for some reason unconnected to your skills and experience.Wingovernorth wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2024 12:48 am I’m in a similar position myself ..

Re: Never heard back
You only get a PFO after an interview if you're unsuccessful. PFOs don't come after an application.
The word in a training department meeting this week, direct from the mouth of the SVP of Flight Ops, is that they are out of experienced new hire candidates and experienced people that do apply are being tapped immediately for start dates.
It doesn't make sense that those with Bus or Boeing time on this thread aren't getting called. If you are still interested I suggest you resubmit your application. Remember, this organization has incompetent people more interested in swapping muffin recipes that will @#$! up your application when it comes in and not think twice about it, they still have dot matrix printers in some offices, maybe the print out came off the track... That's what you have to get past... if you know someone here, ask for a referral, that might get you onto the right pile.

Re: Never heard back
Jazz is worse. We are short approximately 300 captains and now they’re basically hiring 250 hr pilots out of flight school although hiring has been slowed.
DEI = Didn’t Earn It
Re: Never heard back
There are still aviation employers that believe “If you post it (job openings) - they will come (experienced applicants)”.
Reality is that there are better offers out there.
Re: Never heard back
I did my interview a month ago and still have not heard back… does anyone know how long it takes to get PFO’d or to get an update??
Cheers

Re: Never heard back
Same here, back in Canada after flying overseas. I have more than 3000 hours on Airbus/Boeing, applied almost a year ago.
Emailed one of the HR few months ago and asked about my progress and he said my application is still in the system but couldn't provide a timeline.
Still haven't heard back from them yet.

Question, did you return to Canada willingly or something forced your hand?porkfloss wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 10:39 am Same here, back in Canada after flying overseas. I have more than 3000 hours on Airbus/Boeing, applied almost a year ago.

This seems strange given the experience they’ve brought the the door in the last year, surely you’d be competitive with most of them, I wonder if something else is at play.

Guess I now belong to the same league as the King Air captain with 6000 hours.

I had a chat with a few colleagues they were also surprised that I did not even get a call
Thinking to re-apply soon now that I have Canadian aviation experience, if that is what they were looking for in the application
