You are right:

"This employer has applied for a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) to hire a foreign worker to fill labour or skills shortages on a temporary basis."

Will hiring foreigners even work? From which country will they come exactly? I can't really think of any where pilots have it worse.

Probably from the same country all the truck and Uber Eats drivers come from sadly.

I see. Is there anyone from India here that can comment if there is a glut of pilots there looking to gain experience overseas?

You'd probably find a bigger list of qualified candidates who actively choose not to apply, due to the WAWCON's.

Voyageur has been predominantly hiring foreign pilots for the past couple years. They have been tapping heavily into the South African market and operating on FVs. Seems like there is quite the supply there willing to work for wages the Canadians aren't.

South Africans is a good one. They're all over Africa and likely looking for safer skies. What about Australians?

Do they have any "valid reasons" in asking for experienced pilots? I assume they're not tapping the foreign pilot market to hire guys with 200 hrs...

Nah if aussies leave australia and don't go middle east they go to the USA. They get visas there. It's great. Recruiter on linked in approached me from atlas and they did the whole process. Didn't spend a dollar and they arranged everything. I just had to show for the interviews.

Only SpiceJet has Dash pilots. The ones who haven’t yet left SpiceJet are the ones who were ok with what they were getting even when the company was faltering. Now that SpiceJet has started doing ok and paid off most of their Dash I don’t think they will be looking to leave and come here. They are paid more there anyways.
Trust me, drivers from India don’t come to Canada to earn better, cause we are earning less here. At least in encore. Money is not the factor. Other conditions are.

So instead of paying Canadians decently, they'd rather bring foreigners and keep their cheap mentality !!!
Disgusting.

Shill_Bill! Welcome back! How's Delta?

For non-troll posters, it sounds like things are not directly as they appear - expect an update in the next few days from the parties involved. I'm not condoning anything done by the company, but there's more to this story.

As for the long passed issue of TA2, at the time, Encore had 47 aircraft. Now, 2 have exited the fleet, 12 have apparently been sold but are still stored, and another 8 are still in storage. So they're now operating only 25 tails even though WestJet mainline is short aircraft and using ex-Lynx and Swoop interior aircraft.

To put it another way, Encore could offer better working conditions and potentially attract more pilots to Encore to get at least another 8 aircraft flying (and start taking the 737 with substandard interiors offline to upgrade them), but it's simply not worth it for the Company to do so. Encore has a role to play, but under this management team, it's role is getting smaller.

I guess you've never spent time in Nigeria, Angola or India.
