Which also means that for 1 dollar less raise at year 12, year one could go up 12 dollars. Assuming the amount of pilots at year 1 and 12 is the same, which it likely isn't.Man_in_the_sky wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2024 5:22 am Your armchair math could be logical, but our armchair math is also that we’re spending 15+ years at year 12, so every $ gained on year 12 is 12 times higher in our pocket than at year 1 ..
But year 1 still sucks

As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

The Ten Commandments of Rationalizaton for Air Canada pilots:
1) Flat Pay is "only for" xx years
(need to ignore fact it is the cheapest to fix)
2) We "saved our pension".
(need to ignore the slough of concessions over 20 years and now US airline pilots have fat 18% company contributed pensions)
3) "The government won't let us strike"
(need to ignore that Postal Worker were able to strike for 4 weeks plus the fact US airline pilots live under worse labour laws)
4) "The government is the reason we have this contract"
(Need to ignore that Air Canada pilots locked in these concessions in a 10 yrs deal at 2% per year)
5) "We aren't WestJet"
(Air Canada pilots then vote in worse things in their contract)
6) "I'd rather have pay than a bonus"
(Need to ignore literally almost every other pilot group has a bonus & superior pay)
7) Can't compare to the US
(Need to ignore that the Executives do this exactly)
8 ) "Just bid Widebody"
(Need to ignore that maybe that this is a bandaid to the root of the problem...shitty narrowbody work rules)
9) "At least it is better than being xxx profession"
(Need to ignore that comparing yourselves to garbage men or whatever is beyond comprehension)
10) "I'd rather have a target benefit pension than a defined benefits pension"
(Need to literally ignore the advice of any financial expert on this and WHY the DB pension payout is the way it is)

Add as foe, confirm. Ahhh, that feels better.

Ok, you're on my list too! (relax, that's a joke!)
3 months of the same post (same anger, insults and bitterness), over and over. To what purpose?
Constant insults are not going to lead to a better outcome next time.
And "shill"? Either you don't know what it means or haven't been paying attention. I voted NO. But, now that we're here, what's the best way to move forward? I don't know what it is but I know what it isn't.
