The fleet used to be some 550s, B100, 90, C206, 180 DHC-2, -6,-8. What type are the 50 machines now?

All coast guard aircraft are Transport Canada. That’s why the number is so high.

That's interesting. I recently learned that the Coast Guard in the States is part of their armed forces and actually fight in wars sometimes. Sounds like ours is more civilian.

The Canadian Coast Guard is part of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans. So it’s a completely civilian agency, they do work very closely with the RCMP and the CAF.

PAL is also contracted by Fisheries and Oceans, they carry an officer on their flights. They are basically doing CAF's Aurora's patrols.
