YVR is mostly junior. You probably will get it before you finish training.

No news on YYC/YEG base, I don’t expect it to happen for a while.

Contract is mostly okay. It’s somewhat commuter friendly, and pay is slightly above market rates. Can it be better? Yes, but that’s the thing about all contracts

Much longer. You need to remember that Porter has had an YOW base for a very long time in the dash and that pilots that fly for Porter have been there a long time. And with dash transfers, even if you managed to get YOW early, you’re gonna sit BOTL for a while.

However, you could take a gamble and roll the dice. YOW seems to primarily be where Porter is organizing itself around. Fortune favors the bold. Expansion out of YOW is very pronounced. And a early decision to take a chance could favour you

Any way of getting out of paying for your own accommodations for training since you guys aren’t unionized yet?

So if we vote a union in we are guaranteed to get paid accommodations for training? How is that related?

Regardless, get hired now and crash pad it for a month or two during training, or wait till we unionize and hammer out an initial contract which even the organizing committee said could take up to two years.

What’s more important? The couple thousand you save now or the hundreds of seniority numbers you fall below. Up to you.

My previous post wasn’t meant to be disrespectful, sorry if it came across that way.

I was just curious since you aren’t unionized, could things like training costs and perhaps YOS from a different carrier be negotiated prior to being hired.

You're welcome to try but it will be a very short conversation.

Dash transfers aren't even getting YOS. All initial hires are based in YYZ, which means costs are on the trainee to sort out.

Apologies for reading it that way. The only way would be to get hired at a base that isn’t where the training is, and that’s currently not happening. Also, bringing in a union might help with this, but a contract would be at least two earth rotations around the sun away, and you’ll miss hundreds of seniority spots
