I just read the history of sky regional and fail to see the similarities.

You mean it had nothing to do with Jazz signing a 17 year agreement to capture all the express flying only to be swindled by big red for the millionth time?canadianfly wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2024 1:57 pm It appears to be that Russ shut down Sky reg coz he was 94.

Time more than likely ran out to fill key mgt spots ops mgr and cp . Transport Canada requirements audit findings after accident in Jan 2024 at the size and scope of the operation, often results in changing the mgt in order to keep the operating certificate
Though the compensation of 90-110 k full time in fort smith for a cp likely didn't have many apply. very good people lots of big iron pilots got their start there and many are at retirement age at the majors. safe travels

No succession plan and no attractive assets for a buyer.
Great company, great people. Sad but not surprising to see it wind down.

The Jetstream crash report should be out soon. This cries out for a coroner's inquest, because the TSB will have little to say. This is about a long term failure of management. The accident, and the descent to the current business situation. Love the folks there, but my God, the families deserve to know where all the holes in the Swiss cheese were.oldncold wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2024 9:13 pm Time more than likely ran out to fill key mgt spots ops mgr and cp . The dumbest words I've ever heard in aviation were "We're not a flying school".
Good judgment comes from experience. Experience often comes from bad judgment.

Yes, that is very true. And, in the broad picture, the owners were salt of the earth people.
Good judgment comes from experience. Experience often comes from bad judgment.
Re: Northwestern Air Lease ending scheduled flights
A little context please, what situation did you hear these words?

The comment was probably like every small carrier. Sick of being a training school for the Larger airlines.
Regardless Harolds are good people and i am sure the accident last year is eating them up. No matter who was at fault.
Sad to see another Ma and Pop shop fold up.

I am compelled to share my concerns about the leadership of COO. During my tenure, I witnessed a toxic management style that ultimately led to the demise of the company. Despite the Harrolds' excellent friendship and commitment to their employees, the Coo/Hr actions and decisions undermined the team's morale and cohesion. The unorthodox approach to hiring and talent management was particularly damaging. He claimed to possess a psychological background that enabled him to distinguish between good and bad pilots. However, his methods were intimidating and ineffective, leading to the departure of experienced and skilled pilots. Instead, he hired individuals who lacked the necessary expertise, causing further disruption to the serious pilot shortage NWAL was experiancing.
The Harrolds' trust in there new COO proved sadly misplaced, and their burnout was a direct result of his mismanagement. The company's downfall was a preventable tragedy, and I firmly believe that proper leadership and management would have saved it. Unfortunately, the lack of effective leadership led to a breakdown in teamwork and communication, ultimately causing the company to shutdown.
NWAL was the best place for inexperienced and experienced staff while it lasted. I feel terrible for the Harrold's and the outcome.
