Re: Grievance update for the 285ish former Jazz pilots affected by Flow
The CIRB accepting the case is actually a strong indication that something will if fact come from this. The contract violations are clear and represent un-repairable harm done to all pilots at Jazz currently or that have left to come here. This was not grieved in the traditional way to get into AC pockets instead of Jazz's. Jazz Mec does think that a seniority solution is possible. I wouldn't be surprised by any outcome though.CaptDukeNukem wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 10:35 amNothing will stop the red machine. It was such a strong case against management I can't see why the union wouldn't go after it to hold them responsible. "Gotta set the tone" so to speak for future violations. It's as important to ALPA as it is to those affected so I suspect we will eventually see something come out of itNick678 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 2:31 pmThe CIRB accepting the case is actually a strong indication that something will if fact come from this. Re: Grievance update for the 285ish former Jazz pilots affected by Flow
It’s just another “meeting” there’s still more steps to
go in the CIRB process. I have a bad feeling that the Jazz MEC will reach an agreement that screws over the folks off jazz property.

It’s a meeting with the cirb. This should be the final step. Can’t wait

Yup. Just another delay tactic until all 285 somehow retire in 40 years. Good luck getting anything out of thisMan_in_the_sky wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2024 8:16 pmClaude doesn’t give a F about notifying ac pilotsBurgerdoor wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2024 3:56 pm Can anyone confirm all the ~285 pilots have been notified yet? Do you when in Feb? and why this hasn't moved onto the next step in the CIRB process?Flyboy736 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2024 3:01 pmCIRB Officer was satisfied progress was being made, and next meeting with the company is scheduled for Feb 2024Man_in_the_sky wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2024 8:25 pmIt’s a meeting with the cirb. As for when in Feb, I don’t believe any of the announcements have said but as to the why, it literally says in what you quoted, the CIRB officer was satisfied that progress was being made, the parties have been meeting to try and negotiate something. Hopefully when Feb comes, it’s not another “progress being made” situation. Hopefully Feb or sooner they announce an agreement has been reached!Nick678 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 11:43 pmDo you when in Feb? and why this hasn't moved onto the next step in the CIRB process?Flyboy736 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2024 3:01 pmCIRB Officer was satisfied progress was being made, and next meeting with the company is scheduled for Feb 2024Man_in_the_sky wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2024 8:25 pm

The email stated "early February 2025". It will move to the next step in the process when the CIRB is no longer satisfied with the "progress", whatever that means, remains to be seen.Nick678 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 11:43 pmDo you when in Feb? and why this hasn't moved onto the next step in the CIRB process?Flyboy736 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2024 3:01 pmCIRB Officer was satisfied progress was being made, and next meeting with the company is scheduled for Feb 2024Man_in_the_sky wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2024 8:25 pm

I have a tough time believing that AC is there negotiating in good faith after they whipped their ass with Jazz's collective agreement in the first place.crystalpizza wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 1:34 pmThe email stated "early February 2025". So…
Is there a date?
What’s the latest rumour. Haven’t heard a rumour since I woke up.

Update;
“ULP Progress and Next Steps
The MEC held closed session discussions on the Unfair Labour Practice (ULP) and associated four-party discussions. The MEC continues to explore all avenues and contingencies for resolution. We understand that this matter is important to members, past and present, and that everyone is seeking information and progress. This continues to be the highest priority for the MEC. Thank you for your patience while we navigate this sensitive and complex file to achieve the best possible resolution for individuals and the Air Canada network as a whole.
As previously communicated on November 20, 2024, we will provide an update no later than the end of February.”
The other interesting comment was the new MEC Treasurer and his experience in bankruptcy, mergers and litigation being an asset for the ULP process

Litigation experience is surely an asset in a dispute situation
Re: Grievance update for the 285ish former Jazz pilots affected by Flow
Can someone share what that update due for the end of February was?
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Grievance update for the 285ish former Jazz pilots affected by Flow
Today’s update.
Unfair Labour Practice – UPDATE
March 2025
Fellow Pilots,
Over the past several months, as part of our work in processing our unfair labour practice complaint (ULP), the JAZ MEC developed a framework for resolution. That framework was comprehensive and designed to resolve all issues in the ULP. It also addressed the underlying systemic factors that gave rise to the complaint in the first place – providing a benefit to all four parties (Jazz, Air Canada, JAZ MEC and ACA MEC).
In our last ULP update we advised that two days of mediation at the CIRB were scheduled for March. After the first day, it unfortunately became clear that further mediation was unlikely to yield a resolution at this time. Certain elements of our comprehensive proposal require the ACA MEC to engage meaningfully in discussions towards a solution. It was our hope that we would be able to reach a solution collaboratively without relying on further litigation. However, to date the ACA MEC has been hesitant to take any position on our proposed framework. This is especially regrettable given that over six hundred of the pilots harmed by the actions which led to the ULP are Air Canada pilots.
As a result, the JAZ MEC requested that the second mediation day be converted to a Case Management Meeting to determine next steps in the processing of the ULP. Unfortunately, the necessary Board member was not available for this purpose. We are awaiting confirmation of Case Management dates from the CIRB.
As an aside, we understand that the ACA MEC has now retained external legal counsel and will be filing a request to intervene in our ULP.
We remain willing to work with Jazz, Air Canada and the ACA MEC to reach a solution collaboratively rather than relying on further litigation.
We will update the pilot group once we have dates from the CIRB and/or more information to provide.
In solidarity,
JAZ MEC

What a waste of time and Union Dues.
Re: Grievance update for the 285ish former Jazz pilots affected by Flow
Not at all. If ACA hired outside legal staff, it means something is coming that they don't like. It means Jazz's case is damn strong!
Re: Grievance update for the 285ish former Jazz pilots affected by Flow
Yeah the case is strong, time to flush it. CB will never be able to win it.
