20/25 for both eyes/OU for category 1 (exemption?)

Post by aviran9111 »

Hey every, just a question if anyone ever encountered it:
I renewed my Cat 1 medical this year, everything went smooth.
To make it clear - I passed the vision exam without a problem.

I wanted to add contact lenses to my medical (the CAME said initial visit test with contacts must be made and afterwards, either glasses or contacts are fine for the exam), so rather than going to the CAME, I used the optometrist report, which the CAME said is acceptable.

Without even noticing, my OU (i.e. both eyes) was marked with either glasses or contacts as 20/25.
Each eye alone is also 20/25, which is fine as the minimum per eye is 20/30, but both eyes need to be 20/20.

The CAME has mentioned that, as he forward the report to the RAMO.

Am I doomed? am I going to be downgraded to Category 3 for good? Did anyone ever had this issue?

Thank you for your time

I'm not sure I understand the problem. If you can't achieve 20/20 vision with your current glasses or contacts, then get stronger glasses?

If your eyes have some issue that can not be corrected by glasses, then you might have an issue. If not, don't worry about it.

I didn't have this issue before, and renewed my Cat 1 medical without a problem in the past.
The Optometrist said that 20/25 with both eyes is probably the best it's gonna get, and there is a limit to what glasses can fix.

My issue is - I passed the eye exam with the CAME, but afterwards I forwarded the Optometrist results (to add the contacts limitation), which counterdict the CAME, I fear I might lost my Category 1 privilege (to be clear, the CAME already signed my booklet)

I tried searching the group to see if anyone had this issue before, and only came up with one result, which basically said the RAMO can issue exemptions/exceptions.

My question is - did anyone experienced anything similar or heard of someone that did, and what are my options?
