Younger, but no degree vs. Older but with a degree

If you were planning to get on with AC, does the older person with a degree still get chosen over the younger person without, if the flight experiences were equal?

I'm in the younger, but no degree group, though I did complete 2 years of university with good marks. Although I really enjoyed my studies, it was getting expensive to do both, so I decided to pursue aviation. If I spent more time at school, I wouldn't have as many hours as I do, and you need the time to be eligible for the airlines. Since things are starting to move in the upper levels, I wanted to build my hours so I don't miss out on the hiring. I've heard that points are given to those with a degree, but what about for those who are younger? Does that matter? I guess if anything, being younger allows you to deal with the poor pay when getting into the industry, and without family commitments, it makes it easier to make career decisions when its only you involved.

Thoughts?

It seems to me you should do some distance university courses part time and attempt to finnish up your degree. Yyu are a good way there already. If you get the AC interview you can show them you've been furthering your education all this time.

I have a really good friend who is 30, heavy turbo prop CPT, 4000 ish hours, no degree and got the PFO from mainline months ago because he has no post secondary.

I'm wondering what you think young or old is?

Did they actually state in the PFO letter that this was the reason he was not selected? I think they just say thanks but no thanks for fear of exposing themselves to possible hiring discrimination litigation.

i agree. AC just hired 2 that i know of with no degree... hell, one barely finished high school. it's a ruse.
