Beaver check out?

Post by Fishizl »

Anyone know where I can get this checkout done asap? Preferably in Ontario but will travel outside of the province if needed.

What on earth is a DHC-2 checkout?

I assume this is for a prospective employer… if that’s the case they should be providing YOU with adequate training and YOU should be getting paid throughout said training.

Perhaps, but so is the question. You'll have to define what you need it for. 'a checkout' can mean different things and at the same time nothing.

Do you want to fly one for fun? If so, the person renting to you will determine what is required.
Are you buying one? If so, your insurance company will determine what training you need and who is authorized to train you.
Is a prospective employer asking for this? If so, they have to stick to the training requirements in their ops manuals and any 'checkout' you show up with is likely worthless.

As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

You sound offended.

Look at it this way, Unless you just bought a -2 and this is an insurance requirement and on top of that you lack a support network for getting you up to speed…

Take care,

Years back some friends did a Beaver checkout mini course with Babin Air, I believe it was on the plane from the movie "The Edge". I see now they fly a Cheyenne 400 LS, and a Learjet so likely not much help. Would be a cool experience if you had a few thousand bucks to throw away.

What's the cost to let me fly solo?

PPL + $2K + 5 hours and Dave at Air Hart in Kelowna let me fly their 180 on floats solo for my ticket.
PPL + float ticket + 3 hours + how much money will be needed for you to let me fly your Beaver solo?

Currently at 39 hours float time, 300 total.

TIA
