Not a rumour, part of the fleet renewal and expansion, I believe they will have 12 new pc12’s and the 2 jets. I think the timeline is around 2026 but stand to be corrected on that. Instead of basing the jets at the already operating super bases in CYQT and CYSB they will be based in CYLS for some reason that I’m sure has nothing to do with where upper management lives. The union is probably pretty set on one seniority list so even if you get in direct entry with jet time I’d expect a pretty junior line as pc12 guys get their jet experience and parachute in above you. It will be interesting to see what they come up with for a pay scale for the jet but again I foresee pushback from the union for a one size fits all approach.

Who cares about parachutes?

Negotiate your starting salary before joining the union and sit right seat if necessary getting paid the same. You need to attract and retain talent.

The only thing seniority is good for at Ornge was vacation bidding. The jet guys at the BOTL will get the shaft if PC-12 guys with seniority bid on to the jet. That's why I'd worry about "parachutes".

Rumour comes from the aviation publications. Google and a AI are clearly not in some folks wheel house…. Asking a question on AV can then wasting one’s time (like I am now) to post said question… hopefully that’s enough sources….

Good luck asking for more money in the fixed wing. A helicopter guy can get over 200 with a 2 week on/rotation that includes housing for the 2 weeks…. No passes…. I know it can’t be reciprocated but other companies have recip with no ability to do the same. Should be a courtesy for what these pilots do.

That’s not how a union contract works, the CBA dictates what they will pay for new hires, if they paid a new hire 100k more than other new hires or current pilots, you can bet that they will have to pay all the pilots that!

Have you seen their contract? I can think of a few CA's (even an ALPA CA) that allow for credit for years of service under very specific conditions ie, positions no one else wants to do/bid on/ qualified for.

I’ve been saying it for years, it’s how it should be but you’re going to need to provide actual examples of specific companies because as far as I know it’s a unicorn and doesn’t really exist

YOS for pay scales. Not for seniority.
