No employee travel at air canada
Heard employee travel is blocked until Aug 22? Is this true? Any logical reason why?
Re: No employee travel at air canada
AC management claims it's to free up resources for revenue passengers so it's easy to reaccommodate them onto other flights. It really doesn't make a lot of sense since nonrev travel is space available and employees get bumped by revenue passengers anyways, so this move doesn't really accomplish anything other than pissing off the entire company. I think maybe it was meant to pit the employees against the flight attendant group but it's having the opposite effect.Canadianpilot2024 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 13, 2025 12:44 pm Heard employee travel is blocked until Aug 22? Not limited to employee travel... it's all zed fares.

Is there something that directly indicates Zed travel is included in the embargo?flieslikeachicken wrote: ↑Wed Aug 13, 2025 9:46 pm Not limited to employee travel... it's all zed fares.

“What we can share is that this embargo, effective from today through August 22nd has been placed on all staff travel on Air Canada mainline listings for Air Canada and OAL employees, including reciprocal Jumpseat agreements.”
For Jazz and PAL, we can only commute and yes OAL and reciprocal jumpseat is unchanged, for us but I still interpret that as for commuting.

Porter may not quite have the network reach everyone needs, but you’re always welcome on.

In the past staff travel wasn't allowed some peak weeks as the flights were full. I've seen this a few times over the years at different Airlines.Canadianpilot2024 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 13, 2025 12:44 pm Heard employee travel is blocked until Aug 22? Is this true? Any logical reason why?
Not sure if that's the case here - may be related to the Cabin Crew strike.

It is related to it. We do not have staff travel blackout dates.Eric Janson wrote: ↑Sat Aug 16, 2025 2:14 amIn the past staff travel wasn't allowed some peak weeks as the flights were full.
