Air Sprint
Any current employees want to share how it’s going over there ( still working like dogs?). Has the company moral picked up ?
Re: Air Sprint
If thirst-trap was an aviation company…..
The perpetual job ads stickied on top and the bond they make you sign should be all you need to know.
It’s like a fancy 704. Work like a dog, get some experience, see some cool things, and then head to 705, overseas, or REAL corporate.
You’re here for a good time.. not a long time.

Re: Air Sprint
They are hiring direct entry legacy captains, which is supposed to be the most coveted position at the company. This means that either none of their current pilots want that position or they do not want to upgrade/train from within. Neither are really good signs from a new pilot point of view.FlyingFreighter wrote: ↑Sat Aug 16, 2025 8:11 am Any current employees want to share how it’s going over there ( still working like dogs?). As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Re: Air Sprint
Moral is at an all time low. The crews are getting worked like dogs in a never ending grind and then on top of that the tiny perks that used to exist are being stripped away by the penny pinching. Crews being told they can’t expense Ubers to go get food. Sorry but you got to walk no matter what the weather is outside. Don’t worry there’s a convenient store beside the hotel and a Tim Hortons 15 min walk a bit farther. Need to save the company 20 bucks so you have to sacrifice instead of having a decent meal. On your 6 day away from home, only 3 more days they got ya for though after that…
Guys used to get high status with the hiltons and marriotts but now are getting the lower tier hotels more often to again save a couple bucks.
Think long and hard before you go there. Really know what your getting into and make sure the juice is worth the squeeze.

Re: Air Sprint
I mean airlines won't allow you to expense an uber either for food unless there's legit no options around the hotel for food. And if the hotel has a restaurant, I think you are SOL. It's true that I never actually tried to expense because tims/etc is not real food and hotel is too expensive, but I doubt it would get approved. Maybe if the entire crew would go eat together, it might work.Blueontop wrote: ↑Sat Aug 16, 2025 10:28 pm Moral is at an all time low. Re: Air Sprint
Why is there so much flying? Corporate is usually limited flight hours with a lot of days away with lots of time for sightseeing. Get the odd split duty day but corporate is not a grind usually.Blueontop wrote: ↑Sat Aug 16, 2025 10:28 pm Moral is at an all time low. Re: Air Sprint
The reason is because this is the biggest misconception about airsprint. This isn’t “corporate flying”, this is fractional ownership business model. Two different beast completely. The company actually aims for you to fly at least 50 hours per month. Doing around 400-600 hours per year. No guarantee for any layover, you can be called out literally anytime so technically you can’t ever have a beer while on the road for up 5-9 days depending on your schedule and how long your rotation is.dustyroads wrote: ↑Sun Aug 17, 2025 5:35 amWhy is there so much flying? Let me be clear it’s not the worst place by far to work for but to anyone do your homework and make sure the place fits with your expectations before you sign the 2 year bond.
Re: Air Sprint
Blueontop wrote: ↑Sun Aug 17, 2025 5:54 amYa well you also don’t get a corporate card to pay for Ubers to and from the FBO and pay for other expenses on the road at an airline either. So further to that point airsprint isn’t even an airline, right?.. It’s more like a corporate flight department, right? So compared to that what do you get in a corporate setting? A rental car for your cushy layovers in exotic places, bring your golf clubs kinda thing or at least the ability to expense rides around your layover destination. So going along that line of reasoning, airsprint sticks you in industrial access road, 5 mins from the airport and now expects you to make do with whatever garbage may or may not be around.Me262 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 17, 2025 12:56 amI mean airlines won't allow you to expense an uber either for food unless there's legit no options around the hotel for food. I used to work there so speak from first hand experience. When I was there at least they were allowing guys to expense Ubers for food. I also still actively keep in touch with guys there so I know what I’m talking about.

Re: Air Sprint
Hello everyone,
Adam here, (DFO) at AirSprint. Figured I would speak up to help calm the rumor mill.
First to address the direct entry Embraer Captains - We are hiring for all positions and the CJ series aircraft is typically the faster growing fleet. The industry is in a good place, and AirSprint isn't for everyone, so yes, we do have some of our pilots leave for other adventures in the airlines or corporate opportunities. Fantastic, I want people to find what works for them in the industry and find what makes them happy. Work hard and when the time comes we'll write reference letters, use our contacts, and help you get to where you want to be. It's a dynamic and exciting place where you will fly a good amount (for corporate), current average is 45-55 hours a month, 450 - 550 hours a years, and see lots of places. As was said, we are Fractional and not a true corporate operator. You will be away 5-8 days on a regular basis, but do have a schedule and scheduled days off. Our pilots are home for usually more than 182 days a year. We have many pilots with 10+ years of experience at AirSprint, and for those who identify with and appreciate our dedication to customer service and aviation, this is a fantastic operation and we're happy to have and support you for a long career.
But, getting back to the topic.. We are crewing up the numbers on the CJ series Captains, and stealing from the CJ for all the Embraer upgrades means the CJ fleet is left at a disadvantage and everyone works harder. This year we have been 50/50 on external vs internal upgrades for Embraer Captain spots. It kills me inside a little every time we have to hire an external Embraer Captain, I assure you. But, it would hurt even more to see everyone on the CJ having to work double as hard. We have currently hired positions on the CJ to fill our ranks, and will continue to hire and hopefully ensure by the end of the year we see our target of at least 75% internal upgrades to Embraer Captain. Preferably 100%. The next couple spots are ear marked for internal upgrades.
Uber Usage - About a year or two ago we identified some rather obvious abuse of the uber account we provide to our crew members. To be clear, crew members can absolutely take an uber for food when there is nothing in the immediate vicinity. I do not expect anyone to eat McDonalds or Time Hortons 3 meals a day. What we don't want, is people spending hundreds of dollars a day to go sightseeing. These charges were something we had to resolve. Again, I am here, the Director, Flight Operations, stating that when required our crew members can use uber to get food. We only ask people use it responsibly as responsible adults.
I Hope that clears up a little of those topics. I believe AirSprint is an extremely well organized operation, who is as transparent and as open as a company can be. I tell all our crew members I don't have secrets when it comes to the operation and my door is always open to discuss wins, challenges, and improvements. Heck, you can call the CEO at 2am on Christmas morning and ask for help... And he will help you. You don't get that many places I don't think. It is a unique job which provides some of the best piloting experiences in Canada. I am proud to say that our pilots are some of the best in this Nation, and if nothing else you will leave AirSprint as a better pilot than when you came. I always want people to be here for their career, and I feel this is definitely a career company for those pilots who share our dedication and vision of what AirSprint is.
I seem to find a lot of negativity towards all operators on this forum, and I aways find that disheartening. I think we all started this adventure as people who love aviation and love the art of piloting. I encourage everyone to not lose that passion, and don't get sucked into the negativity, no matter where you work or what you fly, I think we all have pretty cool jobs.
For anyone who might have real questions or inquiries, I am happy to address them.

Hey Dustyroads,
We do love internal referrals for sure. That said, we are currently hiring between 4 and 8 pilots a month and a good number don’t come with internal referrals. If you’ve applied and haven’t heard anything, feel free to reach out to me via Email and at the very least I can see where we are getting held up on. afallwell@airsprint.com

You know what Adam… Thanks for taking the time to address some of the comments on here and welcome questions directly to your email. Avcanada can be a harsh place full of fast opinions. You’re right. The company isn’t for everyone and whilst I’ve never had my toe in any corporate or fractional pool, I’m sure it would fit perfectly into someone’s progression or even a career gig.AirSprintInc wrote: ↑Mon Aug 18, 2025 12:53 pmdustyroads wrote: ↑Mon Aug 18, 2025 12:34 pmMy real question is why do you only hire applicants who have a referral from within your organization?AirSprintInc wrote: ↑Mon Aug 18, 2025 12:20 pm Hello everyone,

Thanks CaptDukeNukem,CaptDukeNukem wrote: ↑Tue Aug 19, 2025 12:11 amYou know what Adam… Thanks for taking the time to address some of the comments on here and welcome questions directly to your email. Avcanada can be a harsh place full of fast opinions. You’re right. The company isn’t for everyone and whilst I’ve never had my toe in any corporate or fractional pool, I’m sure it would fit perfectly into someone’s progression or even a career gig.AirSprintInc wrote: ↑Mon Aug 18, 2025 12:53 pmdustyroads wrote: ↑Mon Aug 18, 2025 12:34 pm
My real question is why do you only hire applicants who have a referral from within your organization?

Appreciate your comments.
I would also like to address the comments about hotels. I couldn’t answer yesterday since I didn’t have the stats, but I’ve confirmed today that we are currently in Hiltons or Marriotts 86% of our stays this calendar year. Some of our locations do require other brands and sometimes yes, smart financial decisions need to be made, but the actual budget for Hotels has continued to increase over the years in line with expected hotel costs and aircraft growth. Points are still collected on most stays. Our crews also get airline points for positioning flights, so there are some perks there for sure.
Cheers,

Hi Hurzy,
I'll answer your question in the AirSprint thread in the corporate section as I think it's more relevant there.
Thanks,
