Freelance instructor in CYMM

Post by flyinthebug »

Hello all...

My son is currently working on his PPL and ultimately CPL in CYMM and is in need of a freelance instructor. The small school in YMM only has 2 instructors and 1 is only part time. They only want to fly the 1900 and not instruct. I get it, but I also wish they would hire an actual instructor.

If anyone in the YMM area is available to finish off his PPL and get him through his CPL, that would be appreciated. He has his own aircraft so he can be very flexible with hours and times you would be available for him.

Please PM me any questions you may have. My son currently has 31 hours TT and has soloed several times.

Thank you in advance.

You'd be surprised how interested those 2 instructors would be to teach your son if you make it financially worthwhile ;)

Up to a point. Very few instructors would prioritize one good paying client over a 1900 job...

As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

I wouldn't see it as prioritizing one over the other. Instruction can be done on days off from the regular 703 job. But my guess would be that OP wants to pay peanuts for a freelance instructor.

Not at all true. He is willing to pay well above the industry standard. His instructor just is not available to teach on his days off claiming his has concerns of exceeding his hour limitations. Pay is not an issue, especially in YMM where even janitors make 200K a year. My son is willing to pay very well; he just needs someone that is willing.

So why isn't it your son making the request instead of you?

The real problem with censorship is that people are not aware of it when it happens.

Is the "well above industry standard" you're talking about similar to the percentage increase janitors see in YMM to get that 200K? Or do you mean offering the kid $30/h on his days off over his usual $25 as "well above industry standard"?

He is not a member of this forum, so he asked me if I could post for him.
