NavCan controllers should be on the flight deck jump seat eligibility list, and pilots should go sit with a controller once in a while.

CRM.... Back when CRM wasn't an HR exercise, we often had controllers come in to speak. There was so much value in that, and we need to start doing it again. CRM facilitators love to talk about that bullet proof door separating crew members, it is time we start addressing the radio barrier. There are way too many radio melt downs happening between two hard-working, good people just having a bad day / misunderstanding each other.

I agree with this 100%.

NavCanada used to host info sessions. They seemed to have stopped with COVID. It was great to meet some of the controllers, and have a beer after the info session ended. I'd love to go visit the ACC and have a controller in my JS. It's just very difficult, if not impossible to do.

Not impossible, just give them a call.
I've visited a few towers and shadowed them for a few hours. They were happy to show us how they operate.

All a pilot needs to do to arrange a tour or ACC tour is to have the right phone number to call.

As a controller, it's unfortunately very difficult to get permission to get a jumpseat.

How do pilots get the right phone number to ask for a tour?

We should all lobby for ATC required rides in the jumpseat.

When they are not busy ask one of the controllers for a number, make sure you tell them you want to arrange a visit.

If you want a tower tour, and don't want to ask on the frequency, go to the CFS. Look under "OPR" for the airport operator. Tell them you're a pilot and are requesting the phone number of the tower supervisor to arrange a tour. They should be able to point you in the right direction. Don't call the number listed under COMM: TWR. That rings directly in the cab and is for emergencies only.

Pilots - Stop flipping frequencies and talking before listening.

...
Porter - stop doing everything at half the speed as of everyone else. :D

...
I agree with all the stuff you said, especially the part about PD, could you taxi any slower guys? 6 kts on a 3 mile taxi, really???

But honestly, if I get to the FAF and you haven't told me to switch to tower, I'm probably just going to switch on my own. The whole (you messed up) passive aggressive "did you want us on tower" call is such an Encore move...
