Multi IFR rating (Starting out on the single)
Hello aviators
Quick question and thought.
If someone starts their Multi IFR rating and is low on their finances, it doesn’t hurt to do the first 10 hours on a single and then transitioning to the twin.
I see some of the schools advertise it this way where they split the 20 hours dual between both.
Your thoughts?

It makes a lot of sense to do sim - single - sim - twin for IFR training.
It's a waste of money to do everything in a twin.

As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

You could just do a multi-engine rating and then do your IFR in a single/Red Bird SIM. When you do a PPC in a twin-engine aircraft, your Instrument rating then becomes a mult-IFR!
Keep the dirty side down.

Why would a company hire someone in this predicament as opposed to the countless amount of actual multi-IFR rated pilots also looking for a job? Definitely feel like any company out there flying twins would immediately bin the application the moment they see Group 3 on his resume.

Do nearly all of it in a single except for the actual test.
I did all the IFR training in a single, did my multi rating which took just a couple of flights, then did one IFR flight in a twin just for some practice and then took my flight test the next day.
In total I had less than 8 hours in a twin by the time I finished everything.
